I adore Autumn, I know most hate it as the days get shorter and the weather gets a bit wet and cold. But I love it – I’m perfectly happy to go into hibernation in the colder months with cosy PJ’s candles and generally rubbish TV keeping me entertained (oh, and the new series of Gossip Girl…win!)
Another thing I love about Autumn are the colours – all deep khaki greens and burnished reds. Plus some dark nail shades. There’s something so warm and cosy about the colours of Autumn.
Anyway, me declaring my love for Autumn aside – this post is actually meant to be taking a look at some of the Autumn collection from NARS.
Starting with the eyeshadow trio – High Society – is a trio of unusual shades. A deep purple with a hint of shimmer, a khaki green and a lighter lilac shade. An unusual trio that manage to be an interesting contrast yet work together too. The deep purple makes a gorgeous smokey eye and the green manages to look strangely neutral when applied.
The lipstick ‘Autumn Leaves’ is basically Autumn in a lipstick bullet – a softened orange toned red which manages to look new and modern, but classic at the same time. A nice warmed up redish tone that flatters across loads of skin-tones but personally I think it looks lovely on pale skin. It applies quite sheer and feels really moisturising.
The Velvet Lip Pencil in ‘More’ is a creamy brown-toned nude shade that’s impressively pigmented and moisturising. I love the pencil style of lip colour that is a little on the 90’s side colour-wise. Not an easy one to pull off, despite being in the nude family – due to the brown undertones. But rumour has it 90’s style is back…
Last but no means least is the eyeshadow duo in Vent Glace – and this is my absolute favourite from the products in the collection I’ve been playing with. The two shades are described as ‘Platinum’ and ‘Silver Smoke’ – I’d personally describe them a silvery-grey and a champagne shimmer.
I adore these two shades, nude but a little different to the standard shades – I love the champagne shade for all over the lid and I like the silvery-grey for an inner corner highlight. Definitely the highlight of the collection for me – gorgeous! So expect to see this featuring in many a face of the day post soon.
The collection also features a lovely warm terracotta type blusher that’s well worth a look but these are the shades I’ve been playing with and my thoughts on them, Let me know what you think and which goodies have caught your eye!
