Eek, this is a little late as was meant to go live on the day of the BAFTA awards when I was away on holiday…best laid plans eh!? Well before I went away I was lucky enough to be invited to spend an evening at the Corinthia Hotel where I was preened and pampered and red carpet prepped by MAC, Mark Hill and St Tropez – and I wanted to share a few pics of the experience!
The Corinthia is a stunning hotel in central London and for the run up to the BAFTA awards was also the home of the BAFTA Style Suite, where a series of rooms housed various make-up, hair, fashion and accessory brands to help the guests/celebs/random bloggers like myself get the glam treatment ahead of the awards that were held recently.
I got to visit the suite ahead of the big event to get a taster for what the nominees and celeb guests experience to get them red carpet ready.
I started off getting my hair done by the Mark Hill team – I wanted to imagine the sort of look I’d go for if I was walking the carpet and decided on a glam waves look that was a mix of dressed up and casual. I’m not really one for ever looking to formal or polished and wouldn’t have felt like ‘me’ with an up do – although I do think they look stunning! I loved the bouncy waves that the team created, leaving my hair feeling ‘done’ but not too formal.
Then it was on to the lovely MAC team to get my face sorted – since I was coming to them after a long day at work they had their work cut out! I wanted to go for a brighter than bright lip – so the MUA chose to use Candy Yum Yum, my current personal go-to bright shade which I loved combined with the neon necklace I was wearing. It really is a statement lip and despite having been a life long smokey eye devotee I have crossed over to the lip-side and now much prefer a bright lip to a dark eye if I’m wanting to make a statement at all.
To compliment the bright lips the MUA went for a natural looking bronze eye shade (Constructivist Paint Pot) and a light flush of pink blush to work with the brighter lip (Well Dressed Powder blusher).
Oh, and whilst I was causally sitting in the chair Binky from Made in Chelsea popped in to have her look polished off by the team. She was looking absolutely stunning!
I also paid a visit to the folks at St Tropez to find out a little about the different tan ‘looks’ they will be working on for different celebs for the evening – from the Kelly Brook sun kissed glow to the Millie Mackintosh deep bronze. I would love to make up way up to the Millie level of tan, but that would require a whole lot of dedication on my milky white skin! St Tropez has also has a new range out for sensitive skins – always good to know! A big feature of the St Tropez red carpet look are the Illuminators that leave skin glowing and healthy looking for the cameras.
So there’s a little whistle-stop tour of my BAFTA Style Suite experience. Thank you to MAC, Mark Hill, St Tropez for having me and making me feel like a pampered celeb for the evening. I absolutely loved my final look – hence the pic above which is a (totally over sized) version of my current profile picture across pretty much everywhere on line!
I was a guest of the brands as above for the event.
