So the idea of lying on the beach enjoying the feeling of summer sun is VERY much a distant memory right now. But that doesn’t mean that SPF should be forgotten and stashed at the back of the cupboard until the mercury eventually rises again in Spring/Summer time. There is actually a whole load of ways that winter skin can benefit from products that are typically reserved for summer. So I have a few to show you today from Hawaiian Tropic – a sun care brand endorsed by The Skin Cancer Foundation, that evokes happy memories with its signature scent.
Starting with Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Protective Sun Lotion SPF 30 – specifically designed for delicate skin, it’s a facial moisturiser that offers UVA & UVB protection, plus 12 hours of moisturisation without a greasy finish. Not just a pretty product with the swirl of peach and white ribbons that make up the cream! These ribbons are made up of Glycerine & Silk Proteins, combined to give you an oil free facial mosituriser that can be worn under your make up – it’s ideal for winter as much as it is in summer. As I’m sure you well know… but maybe don’t really pay attention to… SPF is still VERY much relevant in winter. Sure, the sun is a little less strong, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there. The way I tell myself, is that if it’s daylight, then the sun is there and therefore SPF should be worn. I am guilty of not doing it often enough, but when a moisturiser smells as good as this PLUS delivers SPF, then it’s an all-round WIN. It smells so good it makes me want to slather it on all over… which leads very nicely to…
Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Body Butter Exotic Coconut. This stuff smells SO GOOD. Ok, sure it smells of coconut so a whiff will take you right back to balmy beaches or holiday dreams…but where’s the harm in that?! It’s a rich body butter that promises 12 hours of moisturisation, both ideal for skin after a day in the sun, and for skin that’s dry and dehydrated from being stashed away under layers of clothes. It manages to feel light but is really moisturising at the same time. Plus THE SMELL.
Then of course there’s the classic Hawaiian Tropic Protective Dry Spray Oil SPF 15. If you’re anything like me, the chances of exposing any skin beyond maybe a flash of ankle in winter is slim, but that doesn’t mean skin can’t benefit from a product like a dry oil spray though… Dry skin will just drink this up and it leaves it feeling silky smooth and soft (plus smelling ace). And just in case you didn’t know, Oils protect just like a lotion – they just have a different texture. An SPF 15 Oil is just as protective as an SPF 20 Lotion!
My tip – if you have dry hands then give them a pamper by applying the dry oil all over, then topping off with the body butter for a double hit of moisture that gives that ‘locked in’ feeling. Also, if you are braving showing some skin for party season… the dry spray oil gives limbs a gorgeous sheen, AND you will smell so good, that anyone under mistletoe within a mile radius won’t be able to resist a Christmas smooch….
So if you maybe have a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Oil from the summer you were thinking you wouldn’t use again… dig it out and slather it on. Plus DON’T FORGET THE SPF! As I said before, when a face cream smells this good you will struggle not wanting to apply it all over. Just because it’s winter, doesn’t mean skin doesn’t need a slathering of SPF along with a dose of moisture.
