I’m hardly a glamorous jet setter, but I’ve been on enough flights over the years to have a pretty solid idea of what I need to have with me for flights – long or short haul it’s pretty much the same deal for me. I’m even starting to get the hang of packing light(er) when it comes to my main luggage too – more on that at another time, this post is dedicated to the essentials for in the air beautification!
Of course now the challenge with flying is sticking within the limits of 100ml and fitting into the little plastic bag (or plastic zip bag as I’ve been using). A run down of the products I don’t want to fly without:
Face wipes – I’m not a cleansing wipe fan for actually properly cleansing, but for a refresher (face or body) in air these are a winner. For my most recent holiday I took Biore Wipes* with me and really like them!
Mini Deodorant & Perfume: Long flights always leave me feeling a bit grubby so I like to have something on hand so I can freshen up for arrival! Current favourite on the go fragrance is Clarins Eau De Jardins* and mini deodorant is Dove Go Fresh. Always handy to have!
In flight moisture essentials are my absolute must have – a face one, a lip one and a hand one are my essentials. Usually going for a good all rounder for the hands so can use on my face too if needed. For my all rounder I love Embryolisse* (Available from Cult Beauty) – a fab, simple all rounder. For face, my long term love is Rodial Dragon’s Blood Mask – a light but really hydrating gel that I slap on as soon as I get on board (I travel with no make-up). Then I always need a good lip balm as my lips are the first to get dehydrated – my current lip balm of choice is Rituals*, really moisturising and contains SPF so perfect for in the sun too.
I have also taken to taking an Eye Spray for Tired & Uncomfortable Eyes* with me – one that’s also a desk favourite since I spend far too long ogling a screen. It’s a spray that you spritz onto closed eyes – so no uncomfortable eye drops to put in. I find it cools and refreshes eyes that feel dry and tired – which they often can on a flight. Really refreshing and definitely a new in-flight essential.
Make-up wise I keep it really simple. I don’t wear any makeup to travel in other than a coat or two of mascara. So post flight I tend to pop on some Clinique Even Better Eyes* – hydrating with some colour to conceal dark circles. An absolute wonder. A brow pencil – this one is from MUA and only a cheap on (in fact it might have only been £1) but good to make your face feel instantly more polished by pencilling in brows. I then include a powder as always find my face always looks on the greasy side of glowy after a flight, even when it’s really dry. So I carry my Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder* as it’s tiny and ideal for travel.
And of course gum – so my breath doesn’t let the side down post in-flight meal!
