Nail art isn’t exactly my forte…to say the least. You’re basically lucky if I manage to keep my nails painted and chip free for a couple of days! But when it comes to nail trends I am absolutely loving the new wave of textured and patterned type of polishes that have hit the market this year – especially the spotty/polka dot trend so decided to do a little round up of the ones in my collection – ranging from high-end with Illamasqua to low end Accessorize…
I picked up four of the spotty polishes from Accessorize as they were on offer of two for five pounds… so couldn’t resist. Without a doubt, my favourites are the white and the blue although I am overall impressed with them all. For a trend polish for a pocket-money brand the quality and finish is pretty decent. I’ve actually been really impressed with all the nail colours I have tried from Accessorize in the past and these new ones are no different.
Then there’s teh L’Oreal top coat* – love this as it can be applied over any colour polish you like. I chose to layer over a peachy shade* with a grey accent nail* (both colours also from L’Oreal) and love the combo. I like how adding the polka dot layer ties the different colours together a bit. It also adds a little something different to the typical spring pastels.
Then there’s the Illamasqua shade – these were from the I’mperfection Collection and one of the first of the style of polish to be on the shelves. Promtly selling out all over – I bought this direct from the Illamasqua website and have to say I was impressed with the speed of delivery (for free).
Overall, I can’t really pick a favourite as they’re all unique and there are some lovely colours in there but if I was going to make one suggestion I would say go with the L’Oreal Top Coat as it’s the most versatile and can add a new twist to your current polish collection. As with many nail trends, who knows how quick this one will go the way of shatter polishes and be over before it’s even happened….I don’t know, but personally I hope this one sticks around!
Poloshes with a * were PR samples. Others bought by me.
