I love speedy efficient beauty products – so I’m excited to see the market having a few of these speedy nail removers hitting the beauty shelves recently. One of the main things I like about these pots of nail varnish removers is that also remove the need for cotton pads in the manicure process.
But with new products hitting the shelves en-masse… also comes the question of which is the best one to go for? So I thought I’d do a little comparrison of the Bourjois and Maybelline offering!
First impressions count, and on this front I would choose Bourjois – simply because the packaging is a bit prettier and sleeker than the Maybelline. But that’s a superficial point…what about the important details?
Ease of use – both are easy and quick to use. Both rely on the sponge in a bottle with a small hole for you to insert your nail, twist and remove. Naturally, on first use the hole feels smaller and more snug around the finger – making removal that bit quicker. As you have used them more often, the hole naturally widens and makes you have to sort of dig around a little more than you do at first. It’s a close call, but I think the Maybelline stays firm for slightly longer but does feel like it dried out faster than the Maybelline.
Speed wise – I think the Maybelline just pips the Bourjois to the post on that one. They’re both speedy, but feel like the Maybelline only needs one ‘dip’ where sometimes the Bourjois needs two.
Scent – Bourjois wins this one hands down, it smells fruity and lovely and leaves a nice soft feeling on the nails and doesn’t leave them dried out at all.
Price – this is another tie, both are listed at £4.99 – a decent price.
All in all – it’s a really fine line between them! I think if the price differed it would be easier to call an overall winner but in all honesty. They’re pretty much identical other than packaging and scent, both fairly superficial elements!
Both available from Boots or Superdrug.
