I seem to have developed a bit of a ‘thing’ for neon everything this year – not least, neon nails. I just love the combo of the brightest of colour pops combined with neutrals like white or grey. It’s a good job that neons are my current obsession as they’re everywhere this Summer – including these five beauties that I’ve been wearing from L’Oreal…
In the top picture, left to right we have…the purple ‘Flashing Lilac’, the yellow ‘Banana Pop’, the white ‘ Snow in Megeve’, the green ‘Wasabi Hint’ and the pink ‘Acid Watermelon’.
On first look at these, I actually doubted the neon-ness of them. They looked bright, but maybe not quite ‘neon’ bright – but when they’re applied they take on a new lease of life. Especially the pink ‘Acid Watermelon’ in the bottle it looks just Barbie pink, but applied it really pops.
The white is a real winner for me – it’s tough to get a white that applies well without needing a gazillion coats to make it opaque. This one is a two to three coater, but really decent. Nice and bright and definitely pure white, not off white as some shades can look when on. It also makes a great base for the other neon shades if you want them to look even brighter.
The purple, which is probably my favourite shade from the bunch is actually the least easy to apply as it’s quite thin and takes a few coats to get a decent cover. It’s also the least shiny of the bunch and definitely needs a top coat if you want a glossy neon.
The green is the one that’s my least favourite on first impressions but actually won me over when on the nails. It’s bright but not too bright – maybe more like a neon pastel shade – and was a dream to apply. Really creamy. The yellow is a similar consistency to the green and I like how it plays off against the purple as wasn’t really sure I could pull off bright yellow nails….
Anyone else loving a bit of neon this summer?!

Great colors! I’m always shocked when my neons are matte. I know I shouldn’t be, and I always use a topcoat anyway, but it just looks wrong without shine! 🙂
Im in love with that green one, really lovely. The white looks amazing for a white, i agree that its so difficult to get one that applies that streak free x
The pink is definitely my favourite. Love it!

I have seen these in Boots but have resisted buying them because the bottles are so small! But I love the colours you have picked – especially the green and yellow!
