The MAC Divine Night collection is already online, and I have a few items from the collection to take a closer look at…including a couple of gems that I predict will sell out speedily! The collection imagery is very 70’s glam, with a bit of a hint of Studio 54 in there – think big hair, dramatic lips and eyes and sclupted cheekbones. The sort of look where there’s not such thing as too much. But along with this the collection includes a number of really wearable shades that will suit you if you prefer something a bit more toned down!
I have two of the Mineralize Eye Shadows – ‘Captivating’ (white with gold shimmer and a deep gold insert – frost finish) and ‘Gilded Night’ (bright gold with silver shimmer and insert of black with pearl – frost finish). Then there’s the Mineralise Skin Finish in ‘Centre of Attention’ (pastel peachy pink with fine pink shimmer with gold insert shimmer) and the Mineralize Blush in the shade ‘Lured To Love’ (coral pink base with pink frost – satin finish). Finally for lips and nails I have ‘Flair For Finery’ lipstick (cool pink nude – lustre finish) and ‘Prepare for Pleasure’ Cremesheen Glass (bluish red) and then ‘Military’ – a matte black with silver suede pearl nail shade.
So as you can see there are some gorgeous products on offer from this MAC Holiday/Christmas collection – the Christmas update on the packaging is subtle, with simple gold replacing the usual silver on the packaging designs. But I like this – the packaging of the lipstick being given the golden treatment is my favourite touch. It’s subtle, but makes it feel that bit more special.
The two stand-out products for me from the collection that I predict will vanish rather quickly are the Lured to Love blusher and Flair for Finery lipstick. When I first saw the lipstick I thought it would be far to pale for me and make me look washed out – but after trying it out I actually love it – it has just enough pink to keep it flattering. So if you’re pale and like nude lipsticks then you need to check this one out as it’s lovely. It’s Lustre finish – so is fairly sheer. But it’s also really silky and hydrating. So a great every day lipstick. I’m not sure how flattering the shade would be on darker skin-tones though.
I also really like the Mineralize Skinfinish in Centre of Attention – partly for the name but mostly because I like the shimmering pinky peach part. The only reason it doesn’t quite make my top pick is that the golden part is quick glittery and whilst it’s a nice colour it doesn’t quite give the ‘glow’ finish that I like and is more on the shimmer side. But it is a lovely combination.
