Five: Spring Nail Colours

It’s March, right now (this very second as I type) the sun is out and the end to a pretty grey and miserable winter is in sight. What better way to welcome the new season than a little round up of pretty new Spring nail colours. These are my five favourites from the launches that are hitting shelves for Spring – all perfectly Spring ready.

In typical Spring style, pastels are all over the place. As predictable as red and gold and Christmas and dark berry colours for Autumn, Spring and pastels undeniably go hand in hand. There are the odd little twists on the pastel trends – with the textures of the Seventeen and Model’s Own giving a bit of an alternative. But who am I kidding – I love a bit of pastel.

Illamasqua Trilliant* – a dusky rose glitter with some silver sparkle to it. Very pretty, very different for Illamasqua, but then that’s what they do – challenge expectations and always try and do the unexpected. So this time with their latest ‘Glamore’ collection, they have gone uber-pink and girly. This is my favourite of the three nail shades in the collection as it’s pink, but subtle.

Seventeen Colour Clash Nail Effects* ‘In the Surf’ – a clear base with predominantly blue glitter, with some white and orange in there for the colour clash look. The glitter chunks are matte colour rather than shiny and the sizes vary from very fine to the big orange and white bits you can see on the nail swatch. This would look good layered over the white base of the Rimmel colour, or over another blue shade.

Model’s Own ‘Magpie’ * (Speckled Egg collection available at Superdrug from March 12th) – One of the speckled egg finish polishes, a creamy mint base with black speckles for texture. I really like these as they’re a bit more fun than just a glitter top coat. This is my favourite shade from the Model’s Own collection that includes a pink, blue, yellow and lilac version as well. The cornflower blue one is tempting though…

Rimmel London White Hot Love *(Rita Ora collection) – I love white nail polish, but a good quality one is hard to find. This one is fab, and a bargain to boot. It has a slightly pearly finish, so nicely avoids the whole ‘tipex’ nails look and doesn’t need a million coats to look good.  Will also make a perfect base for neons come Summer…

L’Oreal Nouvelle Vague* – a pale lilac pastel shade from the L’Oreal ‘Les Blancs’ collection. All shades based around white as the base, with a touch of colour. There’s also a soft mint, peach and yellow in there. But the lilac is my favourite, I do adore lilac polish in general and love how soft this one is. It is quite sheer, so does need a bit of building up – but very pretty when applied.

What shades are you mixing up for Spring?

The Models Own and L’Oreal are definitely my favourites. I really want to try the colours from the new Models Own Speckled Egg collection, they’re beautiful and really original!

That purple reminds me of my signature nail colour from Essie called Lilacism. An absolute favorite for the past couple of years now, its the perfect shade that goes with anything and everything. Thank you for posting this, i want to go and try the Rimmel London White Hot Love, it looks extremely elegant

The models own shade looks perfect Easter, but my favourite polish was the Rimmel London White hot love.
