So last night I headed down to the rather swanky Sloane Square to visit the Lulu Guinness store for a little celebration of the Lulu Guinness Birchbox * collaboration. Just in case you don’t know, Lulu Guinness is the lady behind the statement lip shaped clutch bags and handbags and basically all things fashionable with a lip print. She also does amazing bags with gorgeous lip zippers (and some even more exciting lipstick themed accessories coming next season that we were very lucky to have a preview of – no pictures though!). But the pairing of Lulu and Birchbox is a perfect match, adorning the usual Birchbox with her signature black and white strips and lipstick mark – it’s a match made in beauty lovers heaven.
I have a few shots from the event (which I have to say had some of the tastiest snacks I’ve had at an event) which along with Birchbox and all things Lulu (including the lady herself – who me, Emma, Ree and Amelia were lucky enough to have a picture snapped with and have a quick natter) also featured make-up stations from Benefit…a little clue to something that is in the box… (you can see what else was in mine at the bottom of the post).
So, the all important question when it comes to a beauty box is… what’s in the box?! Well, for this one every subscriber is getting a little sample size (2.5ml) of Stay Don’t Stray, the eye primer to keep shadows AND concealers in place. I’m actually really looking forward to trying this as I haven’t before. Inside the very cute ‘Life Lessons’ book there’s a mini feature on this and the new ‘Gimme Brow’ – which I am dieing to try at some point (easy brows, yes please!). Then alongside that there’s a Dr Brandt Pore No More Pore Refiner – basically an instant mattifying primer for a flawless base. There’s a little Molton Brown Rhubarb and Rose hand cream (7ml) and a mini bottle of AromaWorks Serenity Body Oil (5ml). There’s also a little fragrance sample of ‘English Laundry by Christopher Wicks No7’ – which does smell lovely, but in all honesty I do struggle to get excited about fragrance samples in beauty boxes.
Then of course there’s the little fun addition of the signature black and white stripe stick of rock from Lulu Guinness! All in all, it’s a fun box – I like the ‘Life Lessons’ addition and the highlight for me has to be the Benefit. The least exciting item would have to be the perfume I’m afraid! The only thing missing… would have been amazing to see a lipstick in Lulu’s signature red shade in there (but as she admitted she loves lipsticks from brands like Nars and Lipstick Queen then I think that’s fair enough!).
The Lulu Guinness Birchbox * is available now from the Birchbox website – if you sign up use the BBXBloggers code and you can get your first box for £5.00 (plus £2.95 P+P)
