These new YSL lipglosses are pretty gorgous – they almost make me switch from being a lipstick girl back to a glossy one! Technically, these are called the ‘YSL Gloss Volupte‘* or the latest members of the YSL Volupte family – but whatever you call them, they’re very, very, pretty. These three shades actually give a nice overview of the different finishes in the collection – with a cream, a shimmer and a pearl finish. Bet you can already guess which is my favourite…
Going from right to left we have 101 Iridescent, 202 Rose Jersey and 1 Gold. With Iridescent as the sheer pearl finish gloss – ideal for layering over a colour or to just add a very subtle layer of gloss to bare lips. The pearl element adds a bit of a dimension to the lips that can be flattering. Then there’s Rose Jersey, the cream shade – with a touch of sheer-ness to it as it is a gloss afterall. This shade is a lovely pinky rose shade, quite natural and flattering. This is the one that I like the most… did you guess right!?
Then lastly there’s the shimmer of gold – where the colour really comes from the sparkly particles in the gloss rather than the base colour. Another one that will look lovely layered over another colour to add a bit of shine and extra interest, or this one would be very pretty with a tan in summer. Can see it being worn with just lashings of mascara and a dusting of bronzer for Summer holidays or festivals. What I like about this is that it’s a mix of shades of gold, so part gold, part bronze with the little shimmer pieces, so creates a bit of depth to the colour and makes it more of a grown up take on glitter than you would naturally think of, if you were to think gold glitter lipgloss.
Above all else, the packaging on these babies is typically gorgeous YSL – definitely a far more glam take on gloss. Also worth a little mention is the rather cute lip-shaped applicator wands. The curve in them helps to hold the product, but then as it goes into a bit of a point you can make the application precise too. Nifty and adorable – I like it.

Cute aren’t they! Slightly odd shape, but don’t feel odd to use at all.
