The other day I was faced with a beauty blogger’s most serious dilemma… what colour do I paint my nails?! I know, a definite case of the #bloggerproblems – but I battled on and decided to settle on not one, but five colours. All in the same sort of colour family – five white-pastel shades, from soft pink, to blue, to lilac, to mint and lemony yellow. These five shades are a combination of some of the cooler shades from the new Rita Ora Rimmel Collection and the latest L’Oreal nail shades. Opting for one shade on each finger… I gave myself a little bit of Spring Manicure Inspiration.
So the five shades aren’t the most original to opt for in Spring… pastels and Spring go together like Easter and Chocolate. But I like the overall ice-cream nails effect – a bit more playful than just a one-colour manicure but still consistent overall. My favourite of the bunch has to be the lilac pastel from L’Oreal – this is one of four ‘Les Blancs’ shades from the Spring L’Oreal collection – four white-pastel shades (the yellow is too) – there’s also a peach and a mint. The lilac shade is called Nouvelle Vague and I love it. The lemon, shown in the nail line up, but not obvious in the mani-shots is called Lemon Meringue.
Then there are the three shades from the Rita Ora for Rimmel collection, there’s the pink ‘Lose Your Lingerie’, the blue ‘Pillow Talk’ and the mint ‘Breakfast in bed’. Of the three, the blue and the mint are my favourite shades, but have to say – for a non-lover of baby pink…Lose Your Lingerie is a good shade. It’s got enough white in there to soften it down from being too sickly sweet.
Quality wise, these are all pretty decent – most were good on two coats – the mint and the yellow needed three. But not bad for pale cream shades to be covered that quickly.
Moral of the story here – why stick to one shade when you can choose five?!
