Ok, so this is a little out of my comfort zone – loose glitter basically equals disaster zone for me. The chances of me being brave enough to sport any of these for anything beyond fancy dress is unlikely to be honest. But not because they aren’t stunning – just that I would most likely look like a disco ball as my application would resemble that of a five year old decorating a pasta painting. Yes, clumsy at best. But my lack of glitter-application ability doesn’t mean these don’t deserve a little slot on the blog – as for every Urban Decay Naked Palette Obsessive there’s also someone out there who isn’t interested unless it’s bright and sparkly. So with that in mind I bring you Urban Decay Heavy Metal Loose Glitter – and the ‘Bondage’ (cheeky) adhesive to make them stick.
So the shades are as follows:
White/Multi – Pyrotechnics (my fave)
Green – Loaded
Pink – Catfight
Blue – Reverb
Gold – Goldmine
Purple – ACDC
Each one of them is a similar sized glitter, with each other than Pyrotechnics being a single/flat colour. Pyrotechnics is a sort of multi-faceted white/pearl sort of shade with multiple colours showing under light. It’s a bit magic and in my opinion, the prettiest of the bunch. The blue is probably my second favourite purely because it’s a gorgeous shade.
As for application – you need a good adhesive, and this is where Urban Decay won me over on this one. When I tried the adhesive I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it’s a sort of cloudy gel-like consistency and the glitter really does just stick to it. My swatches aren’t the neatest (dear lord, just think what a mess my face would be…) but having had a play with these on the back of my hand – applying the adhesive, letting it ‘set’ then looking to wash off. The glitter doesn’t budge easily – which bodes well for long lasting application.
I’d say that if you’re braver than me, heading to a festival or maybe just love a bit of sparkle – then you def need to check out the Bondage adhesive. It’s impressive stuff. If you’re maybe a little less confident (*raises own hand*) with loose glitter then you can always try the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter liners – which are maybe a little more subtle, but easier to apply.
