Holiday Beauty Favourites

It’s taken me a few days to be getting back up to usual blogging speed post-holiday… funny how three weeks being caught up in wedding mayhem then on honeymoon turns your brain to mush! But I am back, and slowly but surely I’m clearing the email backlog and getting my head around the excessively long list of posts I have on my to-do list. Starting with my holiday beauty favourites – well, honeymoon beauty favourites if you’re being picky. But at the end of the day, a honeymoon  is just a lovely way to describe an awesome holiday that just happens to coincide with a wedding…  anyway, these are a few of my beauty favourites from our honeymoon – which was in Egypt by the way, for anyone wondering!

1. St Tropez Prep & Maintain Tan Enhancing Moisturiser  (£12.26 Look Fantastic)

I picked this up when I headed to Selfridges pre-wedding to get a spray tan for the day. I’ve used it before though and always liked it – so I thought would be handy to delay the fade of the fake tan as much as possible and keep it even whilst I attempted to replace it with a bit of a real tan (whilst wearing lots of SPF and hiding in the shade all the time…). It really is just a darn good body moisturiser, I used this instead of a specific After Sun cream as found it was just as moisturising and just really enjoyed using it. I’ve kept this up since coming home and my skin is feeling lovely and soft – lots of love for this.

2. Philip Kingsley Elasticizer * (£15 Look Fantastic)

I always take a deep conditioner type treatment away with me on holiday, my blonde hair does tend to get a bit of a battering when it comes to sun/sea/sand – I don’t know if it’s just me, but the slightest hint of holiday conditions and my hair is just dry and frizzy.  I’m never one of those girls who looks effortlessly gorgeous on the beach. I either have clean hair for all of five moments, then I put suncream on, tie it back and it’s either a greasy slicked back mess, or dry, knotty and frizzy from sea water… I’ll never be a glamorous half girl/half mermaid type, no matter how I try. BUT, beach beauty musings aside – I used this almost every day when away. Putting into wet hair, pre-shampoo to give it a boost and definitely came out with my hair not looking quite as frazzled as it would have done. This was a handy size too – I think from a previous beauty boxy, but was ideal for the 12 days we were away for.

3. Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue * (£49 John Lewis)

I’ve mentioned before how I love to use new scents on holidays as it helps create that scent memory – well this one was absolutely perfect. I’m going to do a dedicated post to it so I won’t go into full detail now – but I knew this was a classic Summer scent, but had never tried the original. This is a Limited Edition version, so slightly different. But to me, this now smells very much like happy summer – and it’s so big I can spritz all over with zero guilt. Love this, just a sniff and I’m back sweltering in the heat, watching the sun set over the red sea.

4. Aerin Beach Cream for Hair & Body * (£40 John Lewis)

I didn’t use this for hair, just body – but this is a gorgeously scented cream with a golden shimmer to it. For the body, for evening it adds just a gorgeous subtle glow that smells amazing. It’s a definite ‘holiday’ product, but can see how girls who are better at getting their legs out than me would  use it year round. This was basically all I used in the evening – thanks to my wedding lash extensions that I had done at Shavata Brow Studio in Knightsbridge ahead of the wedding I didn’t bother with any make-up all honeymoon long beyond a slight dab of powder to cut shine for evenings. This was all the shine and shimmer I needed on my arms, legs and shoulders.

5. Rodial Glam Balm Lip  (£19 Selfridges)

This is actually a long term love of mine – a really hydrating and plumping lip balm that I love to apply a thick coat of at night and let it absorb – waking up in the morning with significantly softer lips. I used this on my wedding day, leaving a coat on my lips all morning whilst I got ready and it’s a must-have for travel to keep chapped lips at bay.

6. Clarins HydraQuench Cream * (£35 Debenhams)

This is another long term love, although only a small tube version it’s just a lovely hydrating face cream. It feels light, but really packs a punch of moisture into the skin. This was my go-to for nighttime – to keep my skin hydrated for evening. Before popping on my old-faithful Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair as my overnight wonder (the serum plus the eye one). I am pleased to say my face feels wonderfully happy after holiday, when normally it would be veering towards the ‘Sahara’ level of dryness.
