One of the things I love about Fashion Week shows is when the make-up and hair goes so far away from what is wearable day-to-day to a whole other creative level. So being invited to cover the Fashion Scout Mariana Jungmann show where the brand Face Lace were part of the look I was definitely keen. I knew I’d be in for a treat – thinking it might be some of their creative black lace items to add something fun and different – but what I saw was even more creative and a bit ethereal than that. Just take a look…
The overall look was pretty stunning – maybe not totally wearable day to day, but can see the special Vinyl Face Lace designs being amazing for something like Bestival or Secret Garden Party next year. The reflective designs were a lovely match for the clothes in the show – which I didn’t manage to capture on the catwalk unfortunately as my camera wasn’t cooperating. But they were leather with detailed cut outs that really worked with the girly-ness of the Face Lace. When I was backstage I got to have a quick chat with Phyliss Cohen – creator of Face Lace about how she and Mariana Jungmann worked together, and she described it simply as the perfect partnership based on how well the designs and Phyliss’ style with Face Lace worked together.
Make-Up: The Body Shop
Make-up wise, I didn’t get to chat to the make-up artists but I did get to stalk their work when backstage – the look was very glowy skin, pops of colour on the eyes (also seen at Felder Felder) and no mascara. The make-up was all by The Body Shop and I spotted a few of the key products being the Shimmer Cube shadows for the pops of colours and lots of hydrating skincare to help create that flawless, glowing base.
Hair: Label M
On the hair front – this was one of the most amazing looking styles I saw at the shows for SS 2015 – all braiding, but really intricate. It might be one of those amazing things that’s actually more simple than it looks – but the plaits that were woven tight to the head all the way along a centre parting line, with hair then slicked back straight and braided over the core plait. See the pictures if that makes no sense…it’s a tough one to describe. The hair looked really cool just at this stage – for the show they actually added these large, dramatic, jewelled hair pieces. But the idea of the double-braided hair I think is one that’s ideal for Summer…
The finishing touch was the dramatic press on nails – to which I had much amusement seeing a model try to take a selfie with nails that aren’t designed for people who need to do anything… Long, metallic, with jewel strands hanging off them… Not wearable by any means and the cries I heard a few times backstage of ‘someone’s lost a nail!’ from the nail artists to the gaggle of models…
Sorry I don’t have any pictures of the clothes in action on the Mariana Jungmann SS 2015 catwalk for this one! But hopefully the beauty shots will satisfy my fellow beauty junkies!
