So I caved. I was walking past a MAC store whilst here in San Francisco and I thought I would go in and check out the rumoured lip combo that is apparently responsible for the youngest of the Jenner girl’s massive pout. Ok, I totally get that there really is no make-up in the world that can truly create that sort of look… there just can’t be or surely we would all be doing it!? But, at the end of the day it’s a good lipstick/liner combo and I wanted to give it a try. Also, having said that – I knew the liner was a KJ staple, not totally sure where Faux came into it, but seems to be a good fit…
So here we have a before and after – with bare lips and the liner/lipstick combination of MAC Soar Liner and MAC Faux Lipstick.
My lips are generally pretty lame au-natural. They’re not especially pigmented, so the edges look pretty soft and undefined – they’re also very prone to being dry/chapped. So when it comes to applying lipstick I usually start with a balm. But for these photos I went straight in with liner then lipstick. The liner did feel quite dry as I applied it all over the lip as a base before applying Faux over the top. Faux is also a satin formula, not my favourite as find it can tend to emphasise dryness. But with a touch of balm it’s all good.
I can definitely say that this lip combo does enhance lips for sure. I didn’t do anything Kylie-Jenner esque like lining outside of my natural lip line, just applied the colours. Ok, so it’s not the pillow lips, but I like it. It also has a bit of a 90’s look to it, which I’ve grown to like. Whilst fashion wise I’m not totally on board with all things 90’s, make-up wise I’m totally on board with the look and seem to be leaning towards it more and more.
Firstly, what are your thoughts on the ‘Kylie Jenner lip’ look… and secondly, how do you feel about 90’s make-up looks? I’m not quite at the point of pulling out Heatherberry, but am totally on board with a brown toned nude!
