It’s the time of year where there’s no such thing as too much sparkle. I used to be a total glitter-phobe, but over the years I’ve found myself more and more drawn towards the sparkle. My inner magpie has clearly made it’s way out so when I saw this collection my heart-eyes-emoji went into full force. It’s glitter-tastic. This is the Barry M Glitterati Collection. Six shades of super fine but super glittery colours over sheer coloured bases.
Taking it from left to right be have the shades: VIP (blue), Socialite (Magenta), Catwalk Queen (turquoise), Rockstar (black), Fashion Icon (purple) and Starlet (pink).
Just look at all the glitter. Each shade has a fairly sheer base colour, packed with multi-tonal fine glitter. The fine base is usually necessary or else the glitter can’t shine through. If it’s too pigmented it will just cover the sparkle. So each of these would work well as a topper for a complimentary colour – or layered on their own as I have them here. Each of the swatches above are just two coats so the pay off is pretty good.
I love how these have super-fine glitter rather than the chunks that seem to be more popular at the moment. It’s just easier to work with really and covers your nail in sparkle without needing to do some sort of dabbing/scooping challenge to try and catch then place the chunks on your nail. If you prefer a find sparkle all over – these are for you. The colours are really fun too – nice and bright and sparkle. I have to say the shade Catwalk Queen is one I keep referring to as the ‘Frozen’ polish as I can just see it as matching the film… random, I know.
Honestly for these it’s a tough call to choose a favourite – surprisingly I actually keep being drawn back to the black ‘Rockstar’ shade – which isn’t really the most ‘me’ as in a nail line up I’ll often opt for the brighter shades. But I love how the black makes the sparkle shades look the most rainbow. But then I do also love Fashion Icon and Catwalk Queen… too many sparklies to choose from!
What do you think of this collection?! Loving the sparkle or still in the glitter-phobe camp I used to inhabit?! Me, I’m off to paint each nail a different shade of glitter (I’m mature like that).
