When it comes to beach beauty, I’m pretty minimal. Not one to wear any sort of make-up when by the pool or beach. I usually tend to get my lashes tinted or maybe have lash extensions (something I did for my wedding/honeymoon) or just skip it all together. But the one thing I don’t like when I am on holiday is the fact my face gets really shiny – a downside of making sure I’m sun cream-ed up and protected… shiny face. That plus bright sunshine = greasy looking mug. Not ideal. But then along came Garnier Pure Active Matte.
So this holiday I have discovered a new beach and Summer in general favourite. It’s actually the latest version of another product that’s a bit of a blast from the past for me too. I used to love the original Garnier Pure Active Moisturiser as it promised to mattify and hydrate all at once. I used it when I was a teen and the formula was different – it was a sort of matte gel cream. The texture of a gel, but not transparent in colour and with a sort of matte finish. It was good, but over the years as my pesky skin decided it was more dry and dehydrated than oily I moved onto different products.
But this arrived a week or two before I went away and ended up being a last moment addition to my suitcase as I grabbed it right before leaving. And I’m really glad I did – this is the ideal Summer moisturiser if you’re loaded up on sun cream so you’re nice and protected, I then pop a bit of this over the top and it helps tone down the shine to leave skin nicely matte but not flat/dehydrated.
If you do lean towards dry skin overall then I wouldn’t go for this longer term, but if you’re oily or just want a holiday beauty option then it works a treat. Feels really fresh to apply too.

I have seen a couple of people review this, It looks like it should be right up my street. I might have to give this a go when my moisturiser runs out.
