It’s that time of year, when we barely feel we have had a Summer and the Autumn/Winter collections start rolling their way out. Well, since this is actually one that is colourful enough I reckon it’s perfect for end of Summer (PLEASE BRING MORE WARM SUNSHINE ENGLAND) and into the cooler months of Autumn and beyond, I figured it is time to take a look. Maybe even in an effort to get excited about the season ahead?! This is the Dolce and Gabbana AW 2015 Beauty Collection #DGLOVESFALL
The collection is basically centred around a series of colour groups – the purple, the pink and the red being the main ones. Then with blue, grey and a rich orange/yellow sort of shade in the mix too. The first things that caught my eye were the blue and grey nail shades – as I’m always a sucker for these colours. The blue in particular caught my eye as it’s a sort of toned down bright blue. Right up my street.
Starting with the purple shades – we have a lipstick and lipgloss each in the shade Purple Passion. The lipstick and the gloss would layer really well to create a real power pout – but either shade alone would work. I can see these working on a real range of skin tones – from pale skin who want a dramatic lip, to dark skin tones who would look awesome with such a rich colour. Me? I’m a little scared… as much as I like the colour, I’m just not sure I’m bold enough to pull it off?!
Then we have the four-shade palette in ‘Fall Harvest’ which brings out the grey and purple from the collection along with a russet pink shade and a sandy yellow. It’s an interesting combo, and not one you would necessarily expect. I’d be really interested to see how people want to use this and how they will play with each of the four colours. Not one for the faint of heart for sure!
Next we have the classic red shades in the collection – both under the name ‘Red Royal’. It’s a never-fail combination of red lips and red nails (or lips and tips if you like that sort of snappy phrase). Both are very much the classic shade and when it comes to quality, I really do like the Dolce and Gabbana polishes – they have the big fat brush I like and they just smooth on really easily.
Then the third colour grouping in the collection is the nude pink sort of shade. Called Antique Rose. This is the most obvious ‘easy to wear’ shade of the bunch and I do really like all three items – from nails, to the lipstick and the cream eyeshadow. I don’t think I’ve ever gone to the lengths of matching my lips, nails AND eyes?! But for a shade like this I reckon it would work really nicely. Perhaps teamed with some smudged brown liner and lashings of mascara. Maybe skipping blusher and going highlight instead too? Might have to give this look a whirl…
The four nail varnishes in the collection include the Antique Rose and Red Royal as already shown. Then there’s the Tahitian Grey and Jaipur Blue shades that I mentioned at the start. These two are both exactly the sort of colours I love and cannot wait to get on my hands. In fact as I type I actually have bare nails (giving them a couple of days TLC after having shellac on for a month) but I think Jaipur Blue could very well be the colour of choice when I next paint them.
Along with all the other items there’s also a trio of shades from the ‘Perfect Mono’ Cream Eye Colour family. Including Antique Rose as mentioned, plus Leo Brown (the lighter of the two brown shades) and Zambia Beige (the dark brown with shimmer shade). Probably the three most ‘natural’ shades in the range
This is just an initial look at the collection (which has just launched) – I’ll be coming back with a look using some of the shades. Which colours are the stand outs to you from the Dolce and Gabbbana AW2015 Beauty collection * ?
