Bourjois has a whole bunch of new stuff for Spring 2016, but to kick things off I thought I’d share two new shades of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Spring 2016. Since these were actually shades that caught my eye as pretty alternatives to the usual corals that start popping up around this time of year with a peachy shade and a warm nude tone.
So on the left we have 16 Honey Mood – a peachy shade that sits in that coral family, but more on the orange side of things. This one would be a nice alternative to more pinky coral shades to add a pop of peachy colour to lips and perk up a Winter face. Then we have 17 Cool Brown – a nude brown shade that’s warm enough to be flattering, but still stay in the 90’s nude lip look side of things. This is actually my favourite of the two shades and one I’ve been sporting day to day.
I’ve not quite fully gotten on board with the nude lip/90’s lipstick thing yet – as not sure I’d found a shade that hit the nail on the head of being both flattering and 90’s ‘enough’ as most of the nudes I went for were still very pinky and not quite nude enough. But this, combined with the velvet matte finish sorts all of that.
Texture wise, these are really lovely to wear – if you’re afraid of matte shades for the drying feeling *raises hand* then give these a whirl as they really do feel velvet rather than drying. They’re really balmy at first then they sort of ‘dry down’ to a matte finish that still has a sort of powdery silky slip to them. Meaning you can get that matte look, without feeling like every drop of moisture has been zapped out of your lips.
