Sooo…. I have exciting news. essie are doing something INCREDIBLY cool. They have teamed up with the renowned photographer, Rankin to create an awesome project – the essie Colour Portraits. Which essentially brings together what essie is known for… colour. And of course the skills of Rankin on the portrait front.
The best bit about it all is that YOU (yes, you) have the chance to have your very own portrait session with Rankin and essie. That’s right, your very own high fashion, close-up photo shoot with the one and only Rankin where you get to pull your best blue steel for the camera and show of your fabulously coloured essie-manicured nails at the same time.
This Easter weekend essie have a series of in-store events – where you can get a free manicure when you spend £10 on Essie products – you you can get your nails perfectly painted so they’re ready for their close up. Then all you need to do post-manicure (great if you get to take part in the in-store one, but you can also do this at home too) just share a photo of your nails with the #essiexrankin for the chance to win your very own shoot with the renowned photographer.
The locations taking part in the in-store manicure events this weekend are (Friday, Saturday & Monday):
Boots, 361 Oxford Street, Sedley Place, W1C 2JL
Superdrug, 49/50 The Strand, WC2N 5LH
Then again next weekend (Saturday & Sunday 2nd & 3rd April)
Boots, 127A Kensington High St, W8 5SF
Superdrug, Westfield Stratford City, E20 1EH
I can’t even explain how exited I am by the prospect of having a photo taken by such a legendary photographer. As his website perfectly sums up, he has ‘photographed everyone from the Queen of England to the Queen of Pop.’
essie is easily my favourite nail brand. There are colours that are my absolute go-to shades, I wore Mint Candy Apple on my wedding day. So as my own little celebration of the essie colour range (nearly 900 shades) I thought I’d share four of my favourite colours and why I love them.
DJ Play That Song – A bright pinky purple creamy shade. One that’s almost neon-bright but still creamy. Like A Splash of Grenadine but dialled up a few notches.
Private Weekend – I love a white polish and this creamy white is pure-white with a silvery/white sparkle running through it. Very pretty and keeps it well away from ‘Tippex nails’.
Butler Please – I am a total sucker for a blue polish and the brighter the better. This is one of the brightest blues I have found and I adore it. On the other end of the scale there’s my AW favourite Afterschool Boy Blazer but for sunny Spring/Summer days it has to be Butler Please.

Now excuse me whilst I bathe in cuticle oil and give myself a proper manicure… Butler Please is on the cards I think. Bring on those bright blues.
