Bourjois Rouge Edition Souffle de Velvet

Bourjois Rouge Edition Souffle de Velvet are the latest additions to the Bourjois Rouge Edition range of lip options. From creamy to matte they have a big range of liquid lip colour and now they have a sheer matte option to throw into the mix. I have eight of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Souffle de Velvet shades to show you and tell you a little about.Bourjois Rouge Edition Souffle de VelvetBourjois Rouge Edition Souffle de Velvet

Leeft to right we have: 04 Ravie en rose, 03 VIPeach, 01 Orangelique, 02, Coquelic’oh!, 05 Fuchsiamallow, 06 Cherry leaders, 07 Plum plum pidou, 08 Carameli melo.

I’ve ordered them vaguely in lighter to darker shades, but of course it doesn’t quite match with the naming order. Bourjois Rouge Edition Souffle de Velvet

Might just be me, but the subtleties between the shades on the left (the ‘paler’ ones) are very very subtle – I think mainly down to them being sheer. These shades all sit in a coral sort of family with not a huge amount to distinguish between them. It’s more the pinker/darker shades that you can really see the difference. In particular between 04 Ravie en rose, 03 VIPeach, and 01 Orangelique – i could interchange these and not have a clue which was which because they’re so similar. Perhaps VIPeach being ever so slightly stronger but think that’s more down to amount of product in the swatch than anything else.

But, colour similarities aside – the texture of these is really lovely and perfect for Spring/Summer. Very lightweight and a nice twist on the heavy, opaque matte shades we have had for the last couple of seasons. Still giving that matte finish, but with a lighter feel to it.

Of course there are still some bolder colours in the mix – so you can get a stronger colour (07 Plum plum pidou or 08 Carameli melo) in particular. But for an every day look these are great – they feel very silky on the lips and not too drying. But as with all matte shades, as much as I love the finish – I just find my lips aren’t quite perfectly smooth enough to pull them off. But that is very much just me, but wanted to add it in in case anyone else might find the same.

They’re definitely a sheer wash of colour rather than intense. I find they just add a bit more tint to lips than bare. Definitely not a pain.

these look soooo pretty! I actually assumed from the name they would be a matte finish, but they are still super pretty!
