Erm, how insanely good is the weather in London this week?! I am absolutely buzzing for the sunshine and husband is setting up the BBQ in the garden as I type. Yep, we’re that Brit cliche of cracking on with a BBQ as soon as there’s a hint of sunshine. But what else is exciting is that it means Spring is in full swing and Summer is almost here. Which also means it’s time to dig out some new season scents so I have four favourites to take a little peek at today to maybe tempt you into giving them a sniff next time you’re at a fragrance counter.
Clean Reserve Warm Cotton
I am a HUGE fan of the Clean scents – they’re ones I’ve often picked up when in Sephora so I’m pretty pleased they’re heading over here now (available in Space NK). The Clean Reserve range is from the Clean family but a slightly more fancy version of their classic range. The Clean Reserve is all responsibly sourced ingredients, eco-conscious manufacturing and packaging.
Personally, I love a fragrance that evokes that whole ‘just clean out of the shower’ feeling. It’s basically the best feeling of clean towels and fresh from a shower combined. Warm Cotton reminds me of the scent waft you get if you walk past a laundrette – clean, powdery but still warm from the tumble drier. If you like your scents that feel simple – the whole Clean Reserve range is designed to be ‘linear’ rather than have the whole ‘top, middle and base’ notes. So what you smell at first will be how it lasts and lingers.
I love this fragrance and cannot get enough of it. Definitely going to check out the others in the Clean Reserve range (there are five in the UK – including Blonde Rose, Smoked Vetiver, Sueded Oud and Rain).
Jo Malone Nashi Blossom
A beautiful bottle that is an Instagram dream. Not just a pretty package though, inside is a lovely fragrance too. The main fragrances in Nashi Blossom are Lemon, Nashi Blossom and White Musk. So it’s very fresh and very spring-like. But what I like most about it is how the White Musk keeps it that touch toned down. But the Lemon and the Nashi keep it light and fresh – like walking under a blossom filled tree. FYI the blossom surrounding the bottle in this isn’t Nashi Blossom (I don’t think… ) but it looked pretty and is actually relatively similar except Nashi Blossom is like the print on the bottle – the petals are white with a lime green tinge with little black dots on the stamen in the middle.
Narciso Rodriguez Eau De Parfum Poudre
It was way back when I first started blogging that I first tried a Narciso Rodriguez perfume and it’s one I still have today. The beautiful chrome bottle that is the ‘Essence’ perfume – that I think has been discontinued! Sob! But I loved it and still wear it from time to time now. But this is the second fragrance from the brand I have tried and similar to Essence is has these powdery notes to it that just win me over every time.
This one is more feminine than Essence and a little heavier. It’s one that when I first smell it, the first thing that comes to mind was when I was younger and the nights my parents might go out to dinner or to see friends and the smell when my mum was getting ready – her fragrance of choice used to be Chacharel Anais Anais. I can’t remember what that smells like so not really possible to compare but that’s the memory that comes back on smelling this. So maybe a similarity?!
Diptyque Eau Des Sens
I’ve mentioned this fragrance before in my Spring Beauty Swaps as a new fragrance I’ve been loving for a fresh spritch of new season goodness. Probably mostly because it appeals to my orange blossom weakness. Officailly listed as top notes of orange blossom and bitter orange. Middle notes of juniper berries and base notes of angelica and patchouli. All in all it’s a fresh and fruity concoction that feels fresh and lovely and really does sum up Spring/Summer in one whiff.
