New year, new beauty launches? That’s how the saying goes right? Well, according to my PO box it’s definitely the season for a new launch or two and many of them are pretty darn exciting. In all honesty, it’s been a while since I’ve felt there’s really been anything all that new or exciting on the beauty front overall. Not to say there’s not been exciting new launches here and there but in terms of whole collections or brand collaborations that have me going ‘oooh’ they were few and far between last year. Which is why I’m pretty thrilled to have a few that I just can’t wait to get testing and showing you – so before I fully crack on with that I wanted to do a quick peek at them and a little about why I’m excited for them.
No, I’m not a gym bunny at the best of times. Throw in being in the third trimester of pregnancy and anything beyond the odd bit of pregnancy yoga or a dog walk is off the cards for me. BUT that’s not to say I’m not pretty impressed with the concept and branding behind this new range. All about a few skincare and make-up bits designed for those who exercise regularly.
In the whole ‘wearing make-up to the gym’ debate I sit pretty much in the middle and would say whilst I’m not against a touch of mascara to make me look less like a mole-rat in the gym mirrors, I would tend to want to keep anything off my skin as the feeling of sweating plus make-up just feels like a recipe for a breakout. But I can totally understand if others want to feel their best in the gym so do opt for anything from a slick of tinted moisturiser to a full face. Whatever works for you is all good. So I can definitely see why Clinique have gone down this route.
What excites me most about the range is the branding and packaging – it just looks cool. I know that’s probably a pretty simple thing to say, but hey – I’m a sucker for a cool product and brand so I like it. In the range the immediate stand-outs (before trying) are the ‘Post-Workout Glow Without The Workout’ lip & cheek flush. I get the gist this is a bit like Glossier Cloud Paint as a glow-giving multi-tasker… also… the ‘without the workout’ bit works for me. I also like the idea of the ‘Train Hard. Never Show It’ (I’m more of a never train hard and it shows shape right now…) but a post-workout neutralising powder could work just as well for anyone prone to redness – HELLO! I’ll leave the more specifics there as I want to get trying and review properly. But there’s some fun and exciting products in there so I can’t wait to try and tell you more.
Clinique Fit Collection – available from Selfridges from £16
Bobbi Brown Extra Glow Collection
Again, being a sucker of the packaging I was immediately drawn to this in it’s sleek white goodness. A twist on the usual Bobbi Brown black and I like it. Plus the collection really does tick all the boxes for me in terms of glowy/natural looking beauty. Which has long been what Bobbi Brown is all about.
There are four core products in the range. The Extra Illuminating Balm in three shades – Bare Glow, Pink Glow and Golden Glow. The Extra Lip Tint in three colour options – including ‘Bare Pink Sparkle’ which is a shimmering twist on the usual Bare Pink shade. Then there’s a gorgeous limited edition highlighting powder and a compact with three skincare essentials for on the go. This is probably the one that I’m most excited about as I’ve not seen a brand do a compact with skincare essentials in this way before. It includes a little Extra Face Oil for an intense moisture hit. A skin salve and the Extra Soothing Balm. If you suffer from dry or dehydrated skin like I do then this is a VERY exciting new product to have in such a compact, portable way.

L’Occitane x Rifle Paper Company Collaboration
You know when two brands collaborate and it just WORKS. Well, this is one of them Rifle Paper Company is a beautiful stationary brand that captures something that’s gorgeously floral but modern. Combine this with one of my favourite skin and body care brands core products (their hand cream) and you have a match made in heaven. Gorgeous packaging plus a product I already love. Again, being a sucker for packaging and I am sold. I mean just look at it – how pretty? Combine with some beautiful stationary to feel all organised for the start of the year. It’s a good duo so whoever came up with that idea for these two brands to come together – bravo!
L’Occitane x Rifle Paper Co Hand Cream – L’Occitane £8
I’m sure there will be many more exciting launches. I’ve already mentioned how I’m excited for a couple from Charlotte Tilbury this year (Youth Glow I have my hands on and trying this week and the Hollywood Flawless Filter (foundation? primer? highlighter?) I’m guessing foundation… either way. I’m keen. BRING ON THE EXCITING BEAUTY IN 2018!
