There are a couple of Summer collections that I eagerly await the release of each year and one of those is Clarins. This year is no exception the Clarins Summer Collection 2018 is a beauty with an edited selection of products for a flattering bronzed glow with a pop of that Summer-perfect turquoise shade. A little peek at the products in the collection, along with a few snaps of the look I created using them.
First up, the star of the show is always the Clarins Summer Collection bronzer – this year is a flamingo theme on both the packaging and on the embossing of the product itself. Almost every year I find this one a bit of a struggle to bite the bullet and use but I would actually say this year is ideal as whilst it’s really pretty to look at, it’s not SO extremely intricate or unique that I feel awful about using it. A couple of uses and the guilt of smudging the flamingo will be replaced with the satisfaction of having a great bronzer to last me for the Summer months and beyond. The bronzer blends three shades, so you can swirl them together or just sweep over the exact shade or couple of shades you want to get the colour you want.
My favourite thing about the Clarins Summer brozner is that it has a sort of peachy tone to it, rather than a brown. Makes it far more flattering rather than that potentially ‘muddy’ sort of effect a bronzer without those tones can create.
The next product that I am VERY excited about is the Clarins Limited Edition 4 Colour Pen. Seriously, why this isn’t a more common thing in beauty I don’t know. It’s like one of those multi-coloured pens you had in school but FOR MAKEUP. A combination of eye and lip shades, this is a travel dream being so compact and I love the blend of shades for Summer. With black, plum and turquoise liners for eyes plus a bright pink for lips. It’s like Clarins went into my brain and combined my favourite shades for Summer in one gadget like pen contraption. Genius. Plus turquoise packaging, perfect.
There’s also a new shade of the ace Clarins Lip Comfort Oil range. I love these and used to use them in the day only until my mate Zoe told me she swears by wearing them at night for an overnight ‘mask’ like treatment for lips. The new blackberry shade is a teeny bit ‘left field’ for a summer collection on the surface. But this shade actually works like a dream along sized a bronzed face.
Which is handy as the ‘base’ of the collection is the two shades of the SOS Primer range. I wrote about the SOS Primer range before (HERE) and these two shades – both Limited Edition – are both bronzing with the key difference being between the skintone they work for. There’s shade 06 Bronze and 07 Mocha – the paler Bronze is better suited for paler skin (hello, me!) and Mocha is a richer bronze for darker skin tones or already tanned skin.
The most exciting items for me are definitely the blusher/bronzer and the 4 colour pen. Both amazing Summer collection product and will be staples in my collection going forward for Summer 2018.
