Baby Skincare – What I’ve been using

When it comes to baby skincare, it does of course very much come down to personal choice on what you use, if anything. We chose to use a few products from early on as it was what worked for us. Over the past almost six months we have used a fairly simple list of products into our daily routine and so wanted to share a few skincare

Of course I wanted to keep the products as simple as possible, keeping Ella’s delicate skin well taken care of and not using anything unnecessary. The first product and personally something I’d call an essential is Water Wipes – I chose to have these in my hospital bag and use from day one. They are as simple as they come with just water and a drop of grapefruit seed extract. Simple but effective – they really work a treat for making nappy changes as quick and easy as they can be. I also have this mega bottle of Bioderma ABCDerm H20 – basically baby Bioderma water. The pump on mine is broken but still sort of works if I use with cotton pad on top so I have this by the changing table.

Also, a total side note but when this arrived there was a little turquoise penguin in the package which is one of her favourite toys… she gets super excited every time she sees it!

Before I had Eleanor, I had a lovely delivery of a whole bundle of Fifi & Friends products. It wasn’t a brand I was familiar with at all but I’ve absolutely LOVED using them. I was a touch surprised when I realised Eleanor had a full head of hair and with the whole milk/throw-up type situation we found ourselves needing to wash her hair way sooner than expected. The Fifi & Friends Shampoo has been amazing, super gentle but also helping keep cradle cap at bay. There’s also a conditioner that I didn’t use at all at first but now do from time to time.

Fifi & Friends has become a staple for the products we use for Eleanor. I also absolutely love the Daily Bottom Butter – we haven’t (yet – touch wood) had any issues with nappy rash and have been using this daily after her bath since she was a few weeks old. The Fifi & Friends Rescue Cream is also a fantastic all-rounder for any irritated or dry skin. I used this and a similar one from La Roche Posay on areas around Eleanor’s neck that would get irritated or red when milk got in to her neck folds.

La Roche Posay is another brand I’ve absolutely loved using. It’s a brand I use a lot myself and trust for baby skin as it’s all created around being suitable for sensitive skin with minimal formulations. Over Summer in particular I loved the Baby Thermal Spring Water Spray to help keep her cool and it was La Roche Posay Anthelios Dermo-Pediatrics Baby Lotion SPF 50 that I used both for holiday sun protection and when out and about in the UK in peak summer.

I also really love the Gentle Cleansing Oil for bathtime – a tiny amount goes a long way. Just for all over washing. The Baby Cicaplast Baume B5 Multi-Purpose Repairing Balm as been the other product I’ve loved as a bit of all rounder for any dry patches or if her skin looks red.

Overall, I’ve been trying to keep our baby skincare product choices as simple as possible. But these are a few of the products that are a part of our day to day routine and have been since early weeks.

You I absolutely love baby skincare products, they are always so gentle and as someone with very sensitive skin I just prefer to play it safe! Plus they always smell so soft and… baby like hahah! x

I love using La Roche Posay too on my baby, it’s never irritated his eczema-prone skin – plus being half French I have a thing for French pharmacy brands!

Not even a tiny bit French but can 100% back you on that – there’s just something SO good about those French skincare brands!
