Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip

Every now and then a brand will do something very clever and manage to crawl inside my mind and create a product that I’ve been dreaming up. This time it’s a clever hybrid of a whole lot of lip products. The intensity of a lipstick, the feel of a balm and the shine of a gloss but without the sticky effect. Plus longer lasting but also hydrating at the same time. Sounds like a dream combination no? Well, here it is in the form of the new Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip (Look Fantastic £19) range.

The range features a total of 12 shades at the moment and I have 10 of them swatched here to to show you. Covering a spectrum of nudes, brights, reds and darks. There’s a little something for everyone out there looking for that lip stick/balm/gloss combo. There are many brands who have tried to make this mix of multiple product features into one, but not many have really managed it without either making it too long lasting/matte so losing the moisture element. Or perhaps going too sheer on colour so you have to pile on layer or it’s really sticky in finish. Some have the colour and the long lasting but it’s more of a stain than a covering of colour.

But the Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip is a really good combination. It does have the shine but it still sticks well to the lips rather than leaving a sticky covering. I wore one of the darker shades (Cool Beets) when I went to the Brits recently and it felt so comfortable to wear. I’d normally opt for a matte when I want something to last, but usually at the sacrifice of comfort. But with this I didn’t have to skip comfort at all.

Now to look at the Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip shades:

I’ve always had a bit of a thing for a bright orange-red lip so one of my favourites is Big Apple that you can see me applying over on Instagram (@beautyjunkieldn). The way the colour slicks on is so easy. Definitely a quick way to apply a lip colour, regardless of if you’re going for a bold shade or a subtle one. I would say that the darker colours would benefit from a lip liner. I’m starting to see lip colour bleed a bit into fine lines around my mouth so a lip liner can help keep the colour in place. I find a clear liner is a wonder product as holds colour in and doesn’t matter if you’re matching whatever shade you choose to wear.

If perhaps a matte lip is something you find tricky to wear but you want something a little easier to apply than traditional lipstick. Then these are your new best friend. I love a bright lip colour and the texture of these makes them feel a lot lower maintenance and easier to wear. Which is perfect.

Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip is available now from Selfridges (£19)
