Olaplex is pretty well established as the gold standard of in salon treatments, even with other brands having their own versions it’s Olaplex that’s probably the most recalled and asked for. Of course the brand cleverly capitalised on this and extended the salon treatment to an easy to use at home option. The latest addition being the new Olaplex No7 Bonding Oil. Plus even whilst we can’t get to a salon, there are worse things than having a little product up our sleeves to care for our hair as much as possible before we can next get to see the professionals!
I’ve previously had the treatment in salon, and used both the shampoo and conditioner at home. Enjoyed and would recommend them both, but it’s actually the Olaplex Oil that has me taking a moment to dedicate a full blog post to it.
I should start by saying I have long, fine hair. It doesn’t hold volume well and it’s regularly coloured (when not on lockdown) so has some bleach damage. I also have a sensitive scalp – so just saying that trying to find a product or cocktail of products that manages to look after the colour, keep my hair conditioned, volume and looking after a sensitive scalp…it’s a challenge. ANYWAY, the main focus on this is the protecting the colour and condition of my hair and not losing volume. Normally, an oil would not be my go-to as tends to leave my hair lacklustre. But the Olaplex No7 Bonding Oil is a different ball game.
I first experienced this when my stylist used it on my hair after a colour and cut at my go-to Hob Salons in Loughton to See Kelly (colour) and Kay (cut). CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THEM BOTH AGAIN WHEN I CAN! But Kay used it, just a few drops and it left my hair feeling silky and smooth, but not weighed down and I didn’t feel the need to wash it any sooner than I would normally.
I bought myself a bottle from the salon then and there and have used it after every wash since. The bottle is hardly even noticeable that I’ve used as a little really does go a long way. I use maybe 4-6 drops max on my hair? Always when wet. It smells lovely, a little bit sweet? I’m hooked! It doesn’t just sit on hair and coat it to give the impression of health.
Highly recommend, whatever your hair type I genuinely think it will be one that works for everyone.
