NOTD: Estee Lauder Surreal Violet

Another purple/grey nail shade – another shade that I love. This one is truly gorgeous – a pretty purple toned putty shade with a smattering of rose gold/bronze shimmer through it that gives it a really gorgeous finish. The shimmer is incredibly hard to capture on camera, but it adds a warm finish to an otherwise cool colour, which I feel makes it a flattering colour for pale skin tones. You can *just* about see it in the image below, if you look closely.

Estee Lauder Surreal Violet: in natural light

The picture is two coats, no base or top coat. It didn’t last particularly well – but I will forgive it because it is pretty. I struggled to stop staring at this whilst I had it on my nails – it’s such a gorgeous shade. So gorgeous in fact that I am seriously toying with the idea of buying a back-up bottle – something I NEVER do, so that says A LOT.

If you like the Sephora OPI Metro Chic family of colours, then you will no doubt love this.

Surreal Violet is part of the Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia/Surreal Violet collections for Autumn 2010 – created by Lauder’s Creative Makeup Director, Tom Pecheux. Available on counters nationwide from August (exclusive to Selfridges from July).

It really is an eye-opening collection that you will need to padlock your wallet to resist, if you’re anything like me.

ooh, i love this! i’ve been intrigued by all the dirty mauve/gray nail varnish shades lately and i can’t wait to try one out.

it’s too bad about the staying power, though!

I absolutely adore this colour – have painted my nails with nothing but this for the past week. Doesn’t really make for interesting blogging, but I can’t help it – such a gorgeous shade.

I loove obscure colours like this… not many people get it… but that just makes it more intriguing !

Have to say I haven’t been impressed with EL nail polishes when I have had them , wearing one today and you can barely see it on my nails after two coats
