London Fashion Week: Terry Barber for MAC (picture heavy)

This weekend I was invited to go along and experience some of the buzz of London Fashion Week with MAC. Obviously, I jumped at the chance.
So I went along on a rainy Saturday morning (feeling very excited, despite the miserable weather) to the MAC media pod in the LFW tent at Somerset House to watch the work of Terry Barber, Director of Artistry for MAC in the UK & Ireland before going to watch the Betty Jackson show (spotted Jameela Jamil & Jo Wood on the front row).
After a video presentation on the major trends for SS11 Terry recreated a look that is a combination of a catwalk style look he had done the previous day and one of the top SS11 trends – copper.
Terry is really fantastic to watch – not just getting on with the colour application, but talking through the process and throwing in a number of entertaining anecdotes about the various tips and tricks he has learnt over the year… including how he picked up how to contour from Grace Jones and some great tips for applying false lashes (once applied, keep pressing them firmly into the root for around half an hour afterwards then they will be really secure & blend seamlessly rather than having the line as obvious).
The overall look is a super-contoured, 70’s look topped off with a stunning red lip. So without further ado, I invite you to have a peek at the before, during and finished look photos below!
Before – the gorgeous model already had her base on, prepped for the colour.

Terry started by adding a terracotta/deep red type of colour grease paint to the eye area.

The same colour as on the eye was blended up
into the hair line and around to contour the cheek bones.

Terry used a couple of pigments to add a shimmer to the eyes & cheek bones.
A golden shade was added to the lid for extra dimension.

No 70’s look would be complete without the feline style dramatic lined eye.
Terry used a combination of pencil & liquid liner (incl the new Wonder Woman liner).
Plus lashings of mascara & false lashes (cut to only fan out the outer corners, to emphasise the cat-eye effect)

Then to the statement lip – lined & filled in with red liner

Then a new (not yet on sale) red is painted all over the lip & topped off with clear lipglass for uber-shine.
The finished look.

Before and after: Look at the amazing contouring & the stunning lips!

What do you think of the finished look??

It’s amazing isn’t it!? Granted, the model does have amazing bone structure to start with, but I adore the final look. The red lips are amazing!
