New camera

So this weekend I took the Friday Treat idea to a new level and broke many of my own rules… I was going to go for a little treat, but I’ve been eyeing up the Canon 600D for quite some time and made a bit of an impulsive decision to just go for it! I justified it as I love my blog and feel it’s worth investing in…

I’ve wanted to learn more about photography for years and in early Jan I went along to a digital photography course that I purchased via a groupon deal – I felt that taught me the basics but now I need to really take it on myself to practise and see what I can do! So this weekend I have spent a lot of time playing with the new toy and here are some of the pics I have taken so far.

Ah, that old chestnut…the obligatory picture of me taking a picture…

A lovely little pot of sweets from Clinique for valentines, for a wonderful cause – Kiss It Better, raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital by donating 50% of the RRP from a make-up set available exclusively in House of Fraser. To find out more about the set or other ways you can contribute check here.

A random little shot of my over-cluttered bathroom shelf…the mystery pot* in the middle is a cleanser and mask product I’m trying out. I can’t tell you what it is though as it’s a blind test… but I can say that it’s really creamy and smells lovely. It doesn’t rinse off too easily, but skin feels clean and not dried out after use. Will let you know more about the brand behind the mystery cleansing cream when I find out! You can check out facebook HERE to get your own sample of the mystery cleanser…

Other products you can spot, my Body Shop t-tree oil exfoliating pads, Nip&Fab cleansing oil*, L’Occitane scrub* and shower oil*, Murad Pore Refining Gel* and Sienna X Gradual Tan* and Spray tan (just seen)… all of which are in regular use at the moment! If you want to know more about any of them let me know in the comments! I need to do an updated post on my current skincare very soon.

Trying out the tripod and remote for a little picture with the little bunny- Chip! Who doesn’t seem quite as small any more! Still, such a cutie. She’s managed to learn how to escape really fast when we open the cage up to feed her…cheeky little thing. Luckily she still loves a cuddle, so I don’t mind to odd Houdini moment.

I got a tripod and remote with the camera, so this might be the start of me attempting to include outfit type photos on the blog! Will see how it goes.

Current shower favourites! Apologies the L’Oreal Ever Strong* bottles don’t exactly look pristine… but they haven’t left my shower since I received them at the launch event a couple of weeks ago. They smell AMAZING and leave my hair feeling clean, light and generally lovely.

I’ve been alternating the shampoo with the Phytopaisant Shampoo* from Phyto for a sensitive scalp – this is working really well for my scalp but I don’t love the packaging. Whilst it looks gorgeous, it’s metal so you can’t squeeze it to get product out, which is a little frustrating.

I really need to do a proper blog post on my love of Soap and Glory too – it’s definitely a brand I use at least daily. I love the shower gel (this thing will last FOREVER – I’ve been using pretty much daily since December…and only about 1/3rd has been used, if that).

And last but by no means least… a sneaky preview of some of the products I’m currently playing with before I review… some bits from MAC, Clarins* and Bourjois*. Reviews to come once I’ve given them a thorough road test.

So hopefully the new camera will mean some new types of posts and some better images for reviews, plus potentially more FOTD type posts as they will be a bit easier to do now I have the tripod etc.

Products mentioned with a * are PR samples.

I absolutely love your photos! I bought the Canon EOS T3i for Christmas and I wish it came with a remote. I’m still trying how to figure out how to take face photos with the timer, but I love taking product pics now because the quality is great. I’m still using my little Sony for my face photos for now but i’m sure i’ll figure out the timer soon.

Soap and glory! Love it so much, I’ve been addicted to the hand cream forever, and I got a huge thing of the shower gel for my birthday 😀 Flake Away is also great, I alternate it with my Lush exfoliation bar thingy.
