St Tropez Dark Bronzing Mousse: Review

I’m back on the tanning bandwagon! I have a few to try out, but first up I have given the new ‘Dark’ St Tropez a whirl. I love St Tropez, with the mousse being my favourite product – I just find it totally reliable for a good colour, that suits me, doesn’t go patchy when fading and easy to apply.

So when I heard they were doing a dark version I was both intrigued and a little nervous! Would it be too dark for me…?

Well, I’m happy to report that it’s not. The colour is deeper, but not so deep that I got funny looks/questions if I was wearing fake tan. Which is basically the good test for me – even the boyfriend didn’t say anything and he normally knows straight away.

So the great news is that for pale skins – it’s still good, and has the reliable St Tropez adapting to your skin tone factor. So you get a darker version of *your* skintone, rather than a strangely dark colour that doesn’t look natural.

My only tiny niggle with it is that the mousse is tinted in a greeny/olivey shade – which basically rules out tanning any time other than night. As you get left looking a bit dirty until you let it develop and rinse off! Not a big deal, I do prefer to tan at night as it’s the only chance I get to give it time to develop.

My favourite things about this new dark version:

  • It delivers a darker shade than the usual, so great if say you’re a year-round fake tanner and want something darker for holiday – it’s perfect!
  • The mousse formula dries quickly and is easy to apply with a mitt (and buff in).
  • Staying power – this lasted a week easily before it faded enough that I felt it needed reapplying.
Tempted to go over to the dark side???

St Tropez Dark is available from Debenhams (also in a lotion or spray version)

I love the regular St Tropez Mousse tan so glad to read a positive review of the darker shade. Being olive skinned I have to be careful not to tan the same or lighter than my own skin (I know, why tan at all then..!)

Lovely blog, loved your pics of Covent Garden celebrating the jubilee 🙂 x
