I do love a good neutral eyeshadow palette, and when it comes to neutral eyeshadow palettes I can’t think of anyone out there who can beat Urban Decay. I actually wondered what they could possibly do next in the neutral shadow market…and then along came this little neutral lovers dream.
The Naked Basics palette is a mini palette (see picture with 50p next to it for size context), compared to the original Naked and Naked 2 palette it’s very small and far more travel friendly. It’s also in a plastic/slightly rubberised material so less likely to get quite as grubby as it’s fabric covered older sisters…
In the palette is a small, but perfectly formed selection of neutral shadows….
Only Venus (left in picture above) has a slight hint of shimmer, all the other shadows are matte. Which is a nice change, and as much as I love shimmer shadows (find them easier to work with) for a neutral day time look matte is the way to go.
There’s Venus for the inner corner/brow bone highlight, a yellow toned and pink toned pale neutral, a taupe neutral, a deeper brown and a black (Crave). All in all, everything you need from a neutral palette and if you wanted to have a day time look then easily smoke it up for night – this bad boy will do the job (just look at the pigment on Crave….so black!)
So Urban Decay have done it again, when you thought there was nothing left to pull out of the Naked line…they release a mini version. I wonder if they have a similarly small size shimmer version up their sleeves next… let’s hope!
The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette is exclusively online to Debenhams from 11th December.
