Current hydration essentials: Skincare

The UK has had a somewhat extended winter this year, and whilst Spring seems to be starting to make it’s appearance (better late than never) the cold has taken it’s toll on my skin – which whilst normally on the dry/combination side has been fully fledged dry for months. But thanks to this little foursome – I’ve been getting it a little more in check.

I’ll run through these in the order I use them…. first I apply Hydraluron. I won’t go on about this in depth as have raved about it enough (first mention back HERE), but it’s a genius serum for dehydrated skin – simple but effective. Then I’ve been using Radical Skincare Eye Cream* which I fully reviewed HERE – it’s the perfect balance between light and super-hydrating so perfect for daytime under makeup.

Then, as the ‘extra’ level of hydration I’ve been using Bioderma Hydrabio Serum that I picked up whilst in Paris. It’s quite a thick serum and two pumps sorts the whole face – I find this is the perfect extra base to keep skin feeling good all day long.

Then, the final piece of the hydrating puzzle is Origins Plantscription SPF 25* – takes care of the need for an SPF in there and this one is absolutely fab as a moisturiser. I was actually introduced to this along with my Mum at an event for bloggers and blogger mums a few weeks ago and have been using it ever since – as has my Mum. I haven’t asked her how she’s getting on yet but will do so and add an update.

For me, overall – this combo has helped move my skin so it feels far more balanced rather than dry which is no mean feat in Winter/early Spring!

Now the only other question I ask myself…is four products, purely for hydrating too many?! Or is this totally normal?!

I’d really love to try something from Origins since a lot of bloggers talk about it but unfortunately it’s unavailable in my country 🙁 Great post!

I think it’s not just UK, the entire Europe seems to be very winter-y still. What really helped me out for the past few months was,en_GB,pd.html

It’s a 2-phase serum from Clarins. A little bit on the expensive side, so my tiny beauty budget was weeping when I bought it, but the bottle lasts or a long time and it really works.

A more budget-friendly approach would be applying a thin layer of vaseline over your night cream before sleep. Many people will go “boo, vaseline”, but it’s non-comedogenic and works, plus – despite the fear-mongering it is actually not harmful to skin in any way. Personal preferences vary, of course.

I have been meaning to try the Origins Plantscription, it sounds lovely. I have been using the SkinCeutical hydrating B5 serum which is so lovely and hydrating xx

I also picked up a load of Bioderma products whilst in Paris and have slowly been introducing them to my skin and will be reviewing them on a post soon. I didn’t pick up the serum though…Maybe it calls for another visit over the water 🙂
    Great post! x
