This is the second edition of the Latest in Beauty Glamour Beauty Edit box* – after the success of the first one, they decided to follow up with a sequel. The first box was a veritable treat of beauty goodies by all accounts, so I was very excited to check out the contents of this one. It all comes wrapped in the slick black box with turquoise detailing – not bad and definitely a re-usable box (I love my storage as you know, so this is a plus). But what really matters is the contents…
Inside the box I found seven products – which is pretty impressive considering the regular beauty boxes tend to have 5/6 in each – and often one of those would be a sample sachet or vial of perfume. These are all decent sizes – either full size or travel. But the sort of travel that would last a long weekend rather than a one-nighter. First up the Percy and Reed Volumising Mousse – one I’ve used before and like. Unfortunately the dispenser of mine arrived broken – the black bit had been totally snapped off under the lid. Not sure what happened there!? But there we go. Then there’s the Rituals Zensation Showe Gel – love these, they foam to an incredible level in the shower and smell amazing. Plus they leave skin feeling great after use too.
On the make-up front there’s the new Manga Mega Volume mascara from L’Oreal – not tried this yet, but very interested to check it out as it seems unusual – all designed around the manga/kawaii trend in Asia of big doll-like/cartoon lashes. Plus it has cute packaging. Will give this a trial run soon and do a review. Then there’s the colour pop blue eyeliner from Daniel Sandler – it’s been a while since I’ve used a bright colour pop on my eyes. I used to always use a bright shade like this in summer as I felt it made my blue eyes stand out (before I learnt a bit more about the rules of colour theory…) but I could be tempted to try it again. I want to get a bit braver with colour this year, so this could be the chance! The Daniel Sandler range in general though is fantastic – I’ve not yet been left disappointed by a product at all (you can see some reviews of the face products here) so this is a great product to be included.
Then there’s the Burt’s Bees lip balm – I have a few of these in my life at the moment and whilst I don’t adore the taste, I can’t deny that they really do soothe lips! There are some new colour variants too – so look out for a review on these soon. Another exciting product in this box is the Cheeky nail colour – a gorgeous bright pink shade called ‘Tongue ‘n’ cheek’. The new Cheeky nail and hair parlour has opened in East London fairly recently and I’m planning to pay it a visit ASAP.
Finally, and kinda-geekily the most exciting product in the box for me was the ‘Invisibobble’ – a little box with three bobbles in there, I’ve wanted to try these for a while. These are little spiral loops that are hair bands, that promise not to snag hair or leave a kink in it. The kink thing being the major selling point for me – as I tend to tie my hair up at night if I want to get a second day of wear out of it – so it doesn’t come into contact with night creams and face oils as I sleep. But the annoying bit is taking it down in the morning and whilst I’ve saved it from getting product in it and looking greasy, it has a kink halo around the back of my head. Annoying. But so far I am happy to report these do a good job of holding hair, but not leaving a kink. They don’t feel *quite* as secure as a normal hair band, but I’ll go with that for what I need them for.
It’s a pretty impresive box with the two stand-out products for me being the Cheeky nail colour and the Invisibobble. Well worth the £14.95 (+ p&p) when the box is worth £45. They’re limited though, so if you want one – move fast!
