YSL Tie & Dye: Bleu Majorelle

This recent release from YSL was one that immediately caught my attention… stripes of colour in the bottle? A name like tie and dye… I had visions of ombre nails in one single sweep… (of course neglecting to think about the technical side of this and how it’s actually really not possible) but all that aside – what did I think of this new launch??

Well, I love a blue nail varnish – absolutely adore Bleu Majorelle – and this really is the perfect creamy bright blue. Perfect for Summer (or if you’re me – year round, no such thing as a season where blue doesn’t work in my books!)

On the other hand there’s the ‘Ice Coat’ – one of the Tie & Dye range of layered polishes are when shaken up create a shimmering top coat to give polish a new look. The shimmer is a pretty one, and it does give the blue a totally new look – a little like subtle fairy dust all over. Or sugar sprinklings.

My expectations of this were in all fairness too high – it’s definitely a pretty ‘on display’ product. In use, it gives a fresh look to polish and could be a variation on the glitter top coat – maybe a slightly more grown up version for those that want a bit of sparkle but maybe not full on disco ball glitter.

But whilst the top coat left me feeling a little bit indifferent – Bleu Majorelle has me totally won over! Gorgeous blue, gorgeous polish – all round winner for me!

Available from Selfridges (currently listed as out of stock though)

I forgot to think of the technical issues with this being a real ombre effect too, which is disappointing but the colour is still gorgeous!xx

That top coat look so pretty in the bottle – although the effect it gives isn’t that different from a normal glitter. The blue polish is gorgeous though!

I’m definitely a blue polish lover! One of my favorite shades is Essie’s Mesmerized which I think might be similar to this color! Your blog is one of my favorites, I never get tired of reading your posts, they’re all so inspiring!
