I’m not going to lie, previously rose has never been my scent of choice – always feeling it a bit old fashioned and dated for some reason. But in recent months all that has changed – I have found myself really falling for all things rose – and finding it now classic instead of old fashioned! It all started with a Rose Diptyque candle…
Which I was given as a gift, and of course didn’t want it to go to waste! So I started burning it and just loved the aroma that filtered around my flat. Floral and relaxing, without being in your face. The boy even commented that the flat smelt nice.
Then this progressed – I found myself falling for two rose-scented lip balms. Firstly Smith’s Rosebud Salve – a far softer scent, with a slight rose tint to it – that has become my go-to handbag lip product. A light slick of ever so subtly tinted glossy ness that leaves lips feeling plump and soft. Then by my bed I have been reaching for this cute little tub ‘lip macaron’ from MOR* (Available from ASOS) – another rose scented treat but without the tint that my lips have been loving.
Then in stepped REN with it’s new Rose Otto range* (available from lookfantastic.com), full bodied rose lovers will adore these. I love the combination of these along with the rose candle for a full on rose pampering sesh. The scrub is frankly gorgeous – a really luxury feeling tub of scrubby goodness. Then topped off with the lighter body lotion – these are ones I like to use before bed as I find the rose scent really soothing before sleep.
The Jurlique Rose shower gel* Available at SpaceNK has been the recent go-to for a quick rose scent fix in the shower with a pair of exfoliating gloves. Another way to get a fix of my new found love for all things rose.
Then of course I couldn’t go all rose-tinted without a mention of the Jo Malone Red Roses Cologne* (non limited edition version available from Jo Malone London) in the special limited edition bottle that I’ve been loving since I blogged about this back in March (seriously, how fast is 2013 going?!) a very strong scent – one light spritz is plenty to leave a pop of fragrance but for the full rose effect this is perfect.
I have to say, how fascinating is it how your senses of taste and smell develop as you get older – things I once loved I now don’t like and other things I used to not like are now some of my most loved… very confusing!
