Scents for Summer

I have a few much loved, favourite scents – but not really a ‘signature’, I’m much more of a wear-what-I-feel kinda girl and love to change fragrance for different events and especially seasons. I have certain fragrances in my collection then that immediately take me back to different memories or holidays or just feelings and I love that! So with the idea of switching things up for Summer – here’s a little round up of five fragrance that are perfect for warmer days…

summer scents

Starting with the two Eau De Toilette’s from The Body Shop – Pink Grapefruit* and Moringa* (Available from The Body Shop – these are a bargain summer scent as only £8.50 each)icon. Pink Grapefruit for me will always be a Spring/Summer fragrance of choice (and drink…love fresh pink grapefruit juice) it’s light, citrussy and really fresh. Moringa is a little sweeter, and has a real ‘clean’ feeling to it – so nice you like that ‘fresh sheets’ sort of scent but maybe want the freshness soft rather than crisp.

Then there’s Guerlain’s Petit Robe Noire (Little Black Dress) in the Eau De Toilette* version(Available from Escentual). The original – Eau De Parfum – launched last year and this is the lighter little sister version of it – personally, I much prefer this version, it’s much more me. The original is nice, but more of a strong, nighttime fragrance, where this is light enough for anytime for me – I prefer every day fragrances over heavy night ones generally. The Eau De Toilette is a combination of floral top notes (rose, jasmine, orange blossom), the heart notes (the signature cherry, apple, blackcurrant and green notes) then the base notes of white amber and musk. I love the combination of the ‘typical’ girly floral combined with the sweetness of cherry and fresh touch of apple and the green notes. It really lightens the fragrance overall and makes it feel very different to the parfum version. Much lighter and fresher for summer!

Speaking of cherry notes…then there’s a gorgeous scent for anyone who loves that smell – Escada ‘Cherry in the air’* (Available from Escentual).I love cherry, it’s one of my all time favourite smells (and tastes) so I loved this. It’s quite a young feeling perfume, which I think is ideal for summer, just listen to the description:

“The enchanting fragrance for women is inspired by the ripeness of the cherry, the earliest fruit that appears in the summertime. Its colourful and delicious aroma fills the air as the first rays of sun creep across the skin, bringing with it images of carefree picnics and youthful games.”

Can you think of a better way to describe a summer scent?! That makes me want to throw on a tea dress and run bare foot through a meadow… not exactly possible in central London (and you certainly won’t catch me barefoot!). For this one there are top notes of black cherry, raspberry and mandarin, heart notes of marshmallow, gardenia petals and coconut orchid, and base notes of sandalwood, suede accord and oak wood. All together making a sweet and summery combination!
Last but by no means least is DKNY Golden Delicious* – in special Limited Edition bottle (available from Escentual). Golden Delicious has been one of my favourites since I first picked up a duo set at the airport of this range (the green and the pink ones?) I love the apple based fragrance of these, it will always remind me of summer so had to include! Last year the ‘I heart’ collection was launched too – and I am still completely in love with the ‘I hear Paris’ version – as much as my blog name meant I should have gone with London (or my love of all things US should have made me choose NY) my nose chose Paris!
