I have raved about my love for AERIN products before, so I’ll try to keep it to a minimum – but seriously, how gorgeous are they? The gold textured packaging, the little pink velvet pouch… gorgeous. Very dressing-table worthy.
But generally brand-lust aside, what is the new collection like? It’s all been inspired by New York (yes, this simple fact already makes me lean towards loving it, before I even look at the products) with lots of uptown and downtown references such as lipsticks called ‘Madison’ (a modern nude for that uptown polished look) and ‘Mercer’ (a deep berry for the slightly edgier downtown style).
The star of the show has to be the palette though – in typical style, the Aerin palette manages to be simple but totally covetable. With an interesting but wearable blend of shades.
The blush is my favourite shade from the palette – a matte peach that will add a healthy and totally natural glow. Yet not compete with a navy smokey eye if you decide to up the drama using the darker shades. There’s also the pale beige shade that’s another matte and on its own offers a simple brightening/evening effect on the lids.
Then there’s the navy shades – the middle one that has a midnight blue shimmer to it and the darker navy matte shade that’s really pigmented and rich. The darker matte shade is absolutely perfect if you want to do a smoky eye, but give it a slightly interesting twist on the usual grey shades.
Now to be totally honest, of all the colours in the rainbow (apart from perhaps yellow) blue is the shade I shy away from make-up wise. It has a few too may 80’s references to be blonde and wear blue shadow, and whilst I love a touch of retro…it’s just not a look I think I can pull off. But these shades do make me want to try – the dark matte especially. I’m going to experiment by using this as a liner before getting more adventurous and trying the full on smokey eye. Then when I have mastered that I will try to throw in the shimmer.
Another new addition to the AERIN range is the new Kajal liner in ‘Skyline’ (loving those city references…) described as an ‘inky black’ it really is a one-swipe wonder. It’s also a new product all together for the AERIN range – and makes me all excited to see what the brand comes out with next!
But until I can plan my next New York trip this will be as close as I can get to the big apple!
