First off, I should say how fragrance is probably one of the most challenging things I find to write about on this blog. For a start, I’m no professional nose. I just describe what I smell. Secondly, fragrance is so subjective – so I might very well adore smokey/powdery scents, but to someone else they might remind them of something akin to tube BO. Totally subjective – so I might rave about something, then somebody else might sniff it and think I’m a crazy person. Having said that, it’s time to launch into my little ramble about this stunner – Furiosa Fendi.
Firstly, can we all take a moment to admire the beauty of the bottle? The gold with yellow is stunning – a sort of fancy giraffe pattern. It’s like nothing I’ve seen before and it’s gorgeous. A definite dressing table fragrance for sure. It was designed by fourth generation Fendi family, Delfina Delettrez – who is also a jewellery designer.
But as much as the pretty is what lures me in – it’s the scent that keeps me reaching for something time and time again. Well, this is a tough one – it’s a very ‘grown up’ feeling fragrance to me. Quite ladylike – but not in a stuffy or old fashioned way. The name itself is basically ‘feisty’, which makes sense. For me it’s definitely an evening-out sort of scent – but not necessarily just a raucous night on the dancefloor. Equally good for a night of drinks and dinner.
Notes wise the top notes are calabrian bergamot and pink pepper. Heart notes are the florals of wallflower, jasmine and gardenia then base notes of amber, incense and guaiac wood. It makes for quite a heady combination. On first sniff it’s not one I find easy to pick out clear notes – for me this is one that sold itself to me when on the skin. In fact, it was a night I was heading out for dinner with husband (still feels funny to call him that) and decided to wear something a bit different so spritzed on this. When I saw him one of his first comments was that I smelt incredible (why thank you…) as much as I wanted to put this down to my own personal aroma… I knew this was the ‘new’ fragrance he was referring to so was sold. Who doesn’t want to be told they smell great?! So now, this is my official date night fragrance.
