Clarins always have the most gorgeous collections year around and this Autumn/Winter they have something that is beyond amazing for any neutral lovers out there. This beauty is the gorgeous ‘Essentials’ palette – packed from end to end with gorgeous browns, bronzes, taupes, beiges and other neutral prettiness.
Ok, it’s not the first neutral palette to the market – there are many others out there. Which makes total sense, neutrals are the sort of shades that the majority (raises hand) like and full palettes of the pretty easy to wear shades are obviously a crowd pleaser. But with a palette of neutrals comes the competition of making it awesome so it stands out from the others on the market. What this does that’s unique is cover off the neutrals but also include a couple warmer toned shades – that as a blue eyed person, I adore.
More importantly…the swatch fest is on!
So swatch wise, the darker shades to the right of the palette do stand out the most. The paler shades are more sheer washes of colour and don’t look as pigmented with a sheer glitter. To me the shimmer shades stand out the most – they have a really silky smooth shimmery sheen to them rather than any hint of glitter.
There’s also a couple of nice matte shades – including the warm toned beige shade that’s nice for some definition that still stays natural. My favourite shades in the palette are the taupe shimmer (third from the right) and the warm bronze (second from the right) and the pale pinky gold shade (third from left).
To me, this is the ‘grown up’ version of the Urban Decay Naked Palette – it even has some pretty decent eco-friendly credentials too as the whole palette can be recycled.
The palette launches in October – keep an eye on Clarins.co.uk for more info (price £35)
