Right now all I can think about is comfort – it’s getting really chilly. I want to stay in, with candles, blankets and yummy soup with crusty bread – maybe even go as far as throw in some in some mulled wine. Yes, this makes me sound like a grandma – but hey, this is what makes me happy. I love to be warm and cosy, nothing makes me happier. Bu this post isn’t actually about my desire to hibernate in colder months, it’s about the new foundation offering from one of my all time favourite brands – Clarins.
The new foundation is called ‘Extra Comfort’ (see the link there now) and the new Instant Concealer is it’s perfect partner. The foundation is rich and hydrating – but without feeling heavy or at all cakey. It delivers medium coverage that can be built if that’s what you would like – personally I love the finish of the foundation on one application.
The foundation comes in a glass jar with twist off lid – makes it look pretty for a dressing table, but not the most hygienic of product packaging designs. But it does make me feel aware of the skincare side of Clarins as the packaging style is familiar to that side of Clarins. One thing is definitely has is that really distinctive scent of a Clarins foundation – I cant describe it, but it’s distinctly Clarins and makes their products new and old share something familiar.
Application wise, I use my trusty Real Techniques Buffing Brush and find a small pea side amount is plenty. It leaves skin looking perfected but still natural and the finish has a glow but not shine to it. Although I do find it needs a dusting of powder to prevent the glow becoming shine as the day wears on. If you have dry skin then you will be grateful for the hydrating finish of this as it really does work perfectly for dry skin without highlighting any dry patches.
For the concealer – this thing is pretty impressive. I find that the tiniest amount goes a stupidly long way to cover everything. It’s a great all rounder for any sort of concealing – working well for under-eyes as well as for spots or blemishes. It’s creamy, so no fear of lines or dryness being exaggerated – and blends really smoothly. It’s a pretty kick-ass concealer to be honest! Plus it’s a pretty big size, so will really last.
For Autumn/Winter where skin tends to get dry and dark circles maybe seem worse… this combo is amazing. My only niggle being that the foundation isn’t very portable, so no good for top ups on the go!
Clarins is available from Escentual.com (£28 for the foundation and £16 for the concealer)
