‘Girls’ the TV show girls is like the new hot thing on the block, and now you can get the look with Deborah Lippmann: Girls Collection*.
To be honest, I feel a bit like I’m late to the party on the whole ‘Girls’ thing. I know it’s meant to be the new ‘Sex and the City’ but more realistic, but I’ve only recently jumped on the bandwagon. But that bandwagon has well and truly been jumped on. The collection is inspired by the four main characters (was there a Sex and the City version of this I missed, because if so – that would have been awesome. I like to think I was totally like Carrie…but with a less eclectic wardrobe). But back to girls! Each shade in the Deborah Lippmann: Girls Collection is named after one of the main female characters: Hannah (hunter green), Marnie (pink), Shoshanna (violet) or Jessa (burgundy).
Much like the girls in the TV show, the Deborah Lippmann: Girls Collection is a mixed bunch. I for one wouldn’t expect to see a rich hunter green along side a bright lilac shade in a collection usually. But I think that’s the joy of it – the whole ‘friends aren’t all cookie cutter versions of the same person’ idea. That and that each shade can match, or work with a different mood – and personality. So there’s the ‘Hapless’ hunter green of Hannah…. the ‘Prim and Proper’ Marnie pink… ‘Virtuous vivid violet or Shoshanna and the ‘Bohemian’ burgundy shade to suit Jessa… a little something for every mood/personality/person.
My personal favourite it’s hands-down the Lilac ‘Shoshanna’ shade – it’s a beaut and one of my favourites this month without a doubt. The deep burgundy of Jessa is also lovely. The pink has to be the least unique, but one I’m considering if I go down the traditional pretty pink nail for my wedding day. Hannah is the most unusual of the bunch, and one that I think will be a love or hate for many. I like the deep green and the only thing that would maybe make me think twice is that green doesn’t go with everything so a shade that needs to be changed frequently.
But overall, the cute box and TV show link is a great match up. I’m now off to research if they actually did do a Sex and the City nail collection at some point…
