When I heard my lovely friend Ree was doing a collaboration with Glossy Box I was super excited. When I saw the box itself (just the actual box!) I was even more so. NOW I have an actual box to show you too – with all the glossy contents to share plus my thoughts!
Firstly, the beautiful box – it’s definitely a keeper of a design. I’m a bit of a hoarder of the boxes – especially when they come in pretty one off designs. This one is probably the most beautiful yet. It’s a white/peachy pink/rose gold combination and it really is what Instagram dreams are made of.
SO, on to the products… drumroll. The box I received contained:
Starskin Hydrating Bio-Ceullulose Second Skin Facial Mask (1x sheet mask)
Darphin 8 Flower Nectar Oil Cream (5ml)
Etre Belle Golden Skin Roll-On Caviar Eye Gel (10ml)
Cheeky Chat Me Up Nail Paint (full size product) – shade ‘Candy Shop’
So Susan Statement Skin Highlighting Crayon (full size product) – shade ‘Starlight’
Essence Liquid Lipstick (full size product) – shade ‘Show Off’
The box is a good blend of skincare and make-up. I think that’s the thing I always look for in a beauty box – is a nice variety and mix of products. I’m always automatically pretty pleased when I spy a nail colour – can’t even explain why – it just seems to be an exciting product to recieve in a box. This is a pretty soft pink- a perfect shade for 2016 as it’s close to Pantone’s colour of the year 2016 of ‘Rose Quartz’. How very ahead of the trend! I do also love the Cheeky Nail Paints I’ve tried before – great colours and great quality!
I’m always surprised by the brand So Susan – it’s one I’ve hardly heard of away from beauty boxes and for some reason I always assume it’s far cheaper than it is. But this pretty highlighting crayon is priced at £15 – so not a cheap product. I really don’t know why my assumption is that it’s cheap!? This is a lovely product- ideal for a brow bone highlight and blending in to tops of cheek bones. Plus the small size lends itself well to being handbag-worthy.
The only product in the box that I’m not as excited by is the Etre Belle Golden Skin Caviar Eye Roll On – now, I’m ALL for eye products and anything that promises to help out the delicate eye area. But for some reason this one didn’t wow me. It is cooling and refreshing – the only thing I don’t ‘get’ is the golden thing. I think there’s a bit of golden shimmer in there, but I’m not totally sure.
Two more skincare things that both have me excited to try out – the Darphin 8 Flower Nectar Oil Cream – it feels as lovely to use as it smells so I’m 100% sold. A great little travel sized one too – so if you’re heading off on weekend visits to family and friends at this time of year then stash this with you. It’s a beaut. Then we have the Starskin sheet mask – in the mag it highlights the Firming Mask (in the pretty pink packaging) but I was pleased to see the hydrating one as that’s the thing my skin is constantly in need of. I love a sheet mask because they’re so easy to use and less messy than the liquid mask equivalent. Perfect for pre-party prep or the morning after. There are apparently four different masks in the boxes so I’d love to see what the other two variants are!
All in all, it’s a fabulous box by a fabulous person! The only thing missing is Ree including the products she uses as the secret to her always-fabulous hair!
Congratulations on a fab collaboration with Glossy Box Ree!
The one thing it did get me thinking about is how challenging it must be to choose the products to go into a box – as it’s not like you could add all the Tom Ford, MAC and Bobbi Brown you wanted… it has to be a balanced combination so no mean feat?! What would you choose to go in a Glossy Box if you had free reign!?
