This isn’t a brand I’ve tried much from, but if this Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Foundation is anything to go by, you’re going to have to restrain me from the counter in future for the sake of my bank account. As you will already know if you have watched my January Favourites video that this foundation is my new love – it has be seriously impressed. And with foundation, it takes a lot to impress me.
For a start, I have quite annoying skin – it’s generally dehydrated, but the t-zone can get oily through the day. I have particularly dehydrated under-eye area, so constantly conscious to keep this area hydrated whilst also aiming to keep the t-zone from being *too* shiny. Then, I have to factor in the freckles – meaning I have pretty pale skin, but also have freckles that if I’ve been in the sun (even with SPF) tend to show up all over. So do I match my foundation to the base or the freckle?! THEN, on top of all of that the skin texture on my nose feels quite uneven – so can look a bit uneven or patchy with the wrong foundation. PHEW, what a list of skin niggles. At the end of the day, my skin isn’t actually all that bad – but on a bad day, those are the things that bother me and I want a foundation to make go-away, if even only superficially.
What I love about this Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Foundation is that is does just that. Especially with the uneven texture on my nose area – it does exactly as it says and leaves a flawless finish. Which is a big claim, but I am genuinely blown away by this. The fact that it looks glowy, but not shiny – massive plus point. It keeps the under-eye area hydrated – big tick there. AND it seems to actually look nicer as the day wears on – with the glow just getting a bit stronger, but not crossing into oil-slick territory at all. I really can’t sing this foundation’s praises enough. It absolutely rocks.
The new Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Foundation (also known as Flawless Finish Perfectly Nude) contains SPF 15, and is designed to create a ‘luminous second skin look’ that lasts all day. I would agree with this. It’s definitely light to medium coverage – my preferred way to apply would be to use my fingers to roughly apply all over (i.e. no proper blending) then use the Real Techniques Complexion Brush to buff in and blend. I find the finish with this application combo is as flawless as it promises.
I would highly recommend that you check it out if you have combination skin too and want to get the balance back a bit. It’s fab. The foundation is also packed with skin-loving goodness such as ‘soy-lipid technology, wild mushroom extract, and vitamins C & E which overall are meant to help improve the hydration of the skin over time too. Always a plus. Basically, I don’t want to speak too soon but I love this enough that I may need to give it the famous ‘holy- grail’ status. Yes, it’s that good.
Also – if you’re not sure what shade you are then make sure you head to the Elizabeth Arden counters in Debenhams. They have one of these nifty little gadgets where you can have your skin tone scanned and matched to a shade in a way that eliminates the effect of artifical light on the skin – so definitely the best place to get yourself colour matched as there are 20 shades and I definitely would have picked the wrong one if it wasn’t for their help. Guaranteeing a good match. The foundation is also EXCLUSIVE to Debenhams until the 19th of Feb when it will launch nationwide.
I’m wearing the shade 11 Soft Beige.
