It’s kinda hard not to love these little bottles of gorgeous from Revlon – this is one of the much-anticipated launches from the brand that we have spied across the pond and counted down the days until it arrived in the UK. Well, now they have and they’re rather gorgeous. These are Revlon Parfumerie Nail Enamel polishes *, and each of them is not only a lovely colour but comes with a gorgeous scented finish (hence the name and the perfume-like bottles). But these are much more than the usual scented polish, with names like Beachy, Wild Violets and Surf Spray – the scents are actually really pretty, and not just the usual sickly-sweet strawberry that we have seen before.
These five shades/scents are a mix of the classic and the quirky. I have a definite favourite – and that’s China Flower. I love the shade, it’s really bright and really glossy. Perfect for year round really. These five actually make up a pretty good capsule wardrobe – the red for a universal, bronze for summer, pink for classic/wedding, dark for Autumn/Winter and the blue for a bright or summer colour. Scent wise, I think Beachy is my favourite of the bunch, that or Surf Spray – the scents are subtle, but noticeable – but if you can avoid a top coat it’s best, if you do want to smell them that is. As I found with a top coat I couldn’t really smell them quite as much.
Pigment wise, there’s quite a variety across these five – the red and dark purple (China Flower and Wild Violet) are both amazing – really pigmented and only two coats needed. The Bronze (Beachy) is pretty good too, but has a slight tendency to show brush strokes – as many metallics do. Then Surf Spray and Pink Pineapple are fairly sheer in comparison. So something to consider when you select a shade – as some are more opaque than others.
There are a couple of really special shades out there too – in particular, Winter Mint (a sparkling turquoise) and Italian Leather (olive/grey with shimmer).
