So the big beauty news to hit our shores is that Sephora ships to the UK – as of this week. We are now able to have some distant access to the beauty heaven that is the black and white icon from across the pond. Ok, sure – we have it in Europe – Paris, Barcelona etc. But frankly, it’s not quite the same as the ones you can find in the US. Having just been to one in NYC – I can safely say that whilst the shipping news is welcome, we still would welcome a Sephora store with open arms (and wallets).
But, in celebration of the fact that we can now at least order (no nail products…they’re a hazard and can only be shipped by ground…so no Formula X or Marc Jacobs nail for me (boo) I have put together my own little wish-list (and by wish-list I may mean that I may be ordering these)
This wish list is basically the main things I missed out on picking up when I was in the US, plus a couple of things I’ve spotted since and would like to add to my collection. Starting with the Tarte Blusher (1) – when I went to the US I had already heard the rumour that Tarte would be launching in the UK, so didn’t buy one when I was there (idiot). I’ve now been hearing rumours that the blushers may not be making it over to the UK…so wishing I had bought one of these.
Then there’s this Clean Rain Rollerball (2) – I’m a huge fan of the ‘Clean’ fragrances having picked up two on various trips before, most recently the ‘Warm Cotton’ one that smells just like fresh laundry – it’s amazing. Such a comforting, clean and fresh scent. This little rollerball (smaller than the main sizes) is exclusive online and only $6…so can’t resist!
Next on the list is another Tarte product, the Tarte Creaseless Concealer (3) which is one I heard a few people saying how much they love it and how it’s the best concealer for staying under the eyes and not sinking into creases or lines. Therefore I need to try it.
The Kat Von D Foundation (4) was on my list for when I visited the store, but decided against it purely on budget basis…well, it’s a new month which means a new budget and this needs to be mine! Another one that comes with many, many, recommendations.
Also on the recomendation front there is the Kate Somerville Eye Cream (5) a brand overall that comes with the Caroline Hirons seal of approval – which makes me curious to know if it lives up to this badge of honour. I’m a sucker for an eye cream, so whilst this is a bit of a spendy one – it’s on the wish-list.
Finally, there’s the Sephora Natural Instincts Palette (6) which I spotted on browsing. I’ve had a couple of own-brand palettes in the past and always liked them and the shades in this remind me of the Smashbox Heatwave palette and at only $15…it’s a bargain for a palette junkie.
So, the good news is that Sephora now ships to the UK – the catch/caveat being that the shipping is £10 for orders over £75 – as you shop, the prices are shown in USD, then when you select international shipping and the UK it translates them into £GBP. So you have to spend over £75 to get the £10 shipping price. But it’s a whole lot cheaper than a flight to the US!
Let me know what you think of Sephora offering shipping to the UK, are you excited…are you indifferent? Are you excited, but still wish Sephora would pull their fingers out and re-open a store in the UK (like me!)…
