With a little help from the lovely Zoe I bring you one of my fairly rare outfit posts. In honour of the lovely Spring weather that has been happening lately this outfit is all about a touch of Spring layers. As for every day that’s a gorgeous late teens one like today… there’s also one that more on the chilly side. So adding a few layers is always a good trick for coping with the joys of the fluctuating UK weather.
The irony being that the day we took these photos was far more on the chilly side.. but I still managed to make little furry friend along the way…
Three things are basically at the centre of this outfit and they’re all staples of my regular outfits – my Oasis Leather Jacket, Mulberry Alexa and a pair of ankle boots. It’s pretty tough to go wrong with these three. The boots are from BooHoo* – they’re pretty high, but thanks to the platform they’re actually really comfy to wear and walk in.
Then the star of the show (yes, really) is the leggings. These are the wunder-under leggings* from Lulu Lemon – which excitingly has just opened its first store in Covent Garden. Now, don’t get me wrong – I know leggings may not be the most exciting part of any outfit. But these are the best leggings I’ve ever worn – absolutely zero pant-showing (I’ve tried the whole downward-dog test), they have the ability to be flexible and suck you in in all the right places and really make you feel supported and skinnier than the average piece of lycra-based clothing. I now have two pairs of these and wear them for anything from slobbing around the house (a slightly better alternative to my usual joggers) or for layering like in this outfit. I thought these make a slightly better alternative to simple tights – plus warmer too.
I also think leggings work well with dresses that are maybe a touch shorter than I feel totally comfortable with – leggings feel a bit better when there’s a risk of a strong breeze… this dress is one from Motel* and I love the bright colour and flower print. I’ve always had a weakness for red dresses.
Then for an added layer – I added the simple white, slightly slouchy jumper from Primark. I think adding the white makes it feel far more spring like than a darker colour or my typical grey.
