Soapsmith Camden Town Body Lotion

For some reason it amuses me that I am currently writing this whilst sitting in Camden Town… I know, such a geek. I don’t live in Camden, but not too far away and once a week I head over here for some work stuff that I do. But right now I’m holed up in a coffee shop tapping out a blog post before heading to the gym (the pre-wedding fitness regime is in full swing)… but along with getting my fitness motivation back I am also focussing on other ‘body’ type products – and one of which I’ve been really impressed by is this Soapsmith Camden Town Body Lotion.

When I first saw this body lotion my first thought was that it looked cute and would make a slightly cooler gift than a ceramic red double decker bus or other similar tourist type prezzies for anyone visiting London. What I didn’t bank on though was totally falling for the scent of it. Yes, the packaging is cute and it’s definitely the sort of product you want to have on display in your bathroom – but beyond that, it smells delicious.

Ironically, I’d say it smells nothing like Camden town (to be honest, I wouldn’t want it to) it smells more like gorgeous Summer holidays – with a blend of coconut, bergamot and a hint of musk. I think it smells really lovely and fresh at the same time as having a warmth to it. I even made the boy smell my arm after applying and he said it smells really good too – so gets the boy’s seal of approval too.

From reading the description on the website the scent inspiration does actually come from the scents of Camden Town Market – described as ‘the perfumed aroma of josticks, spices and fine exotic foods’, which is a lovely description but perhaps a somewhat romanticised version of Camden market (the josticks is pretty accurate to be fair). But whatever version of Camden they have captured in this lotion – I like it, it smells of lovely holidays and I would like to bottle the scent and be able to spray it all over.

You can find out more about Soapsmith and where it’s sold on their website. You can pick it up in Heals or Wholefoods in London and it’s due to land in Selfridges in Autumn 2014 apparently.
