So NARS have a few pretty sweet new launches coming out at the moment – including these pretty NARS Dual-Intensity Eye Shadows. These are basically the sort of eye shadows you can use wet or dry, although I have only swatched them dry in this post. The impressive thing being, they’re pretty darn intense without the need to add the water application technique (wet the brush before you pick up colour for a more intense look). I have seven of the shades from the collection here for you to take a little peek at – let me know what you think and if any colours tickle your fancy at all!
Starting off with the trio below, we have Phoebe, Sycorax and Dione. Phoeme is the bright purple with a hint of duo-chrome when swatched, Sycorax is the dark black and Dione is the cool champagne gold shade. All three are gorgeous and smooth to use, quite pigmented – so if you like a subtle look opt for one of the more neutral shades (Dione out of this trio). The shimmer is subtle – ie no glitter – but the sheen is high. These are the sort of shadows to use if you like a shine, but don’t like sparkle.
Next up we have Callisto, Europa, Giove and Subra. Callisto is the shimmering cool toned pink shade, Europa the pale peach, Giove the jewel toned blue and Subra the deep aubergine. When you first look at the shades when they’re all photographed together it jumps out to me that there are quite a few colours of purple or blue shades. Which in a way I guess there are – but they are each unique (Phoebe is the duochrome purple shade, Subra a deep aubergine, Giove a rich blue – all unique in their own way). So if you love jewel colours and rich shades I can see how these will appeal. Of these four we have Callisto as the very cool toned shimmer, Europa is a peachy shade which leans towards the matte but with a slight sheen to it. Giove and Subra are both ideal for the smokey eye with a coloured twist.
My favourite shades of the bunch are Europa and Dione. Yes, forever predictable – I can’t help but love the safer shades. But that’s what I like most about the texture of these – it makes them so easy to wear. A single shadow sweep and you have a pop or wash of colour and you’re good to go. No need to be blending lots of shades – just keep it simple. They’re very intense just on their own, but add a touch of water and you have liner-level of pigment. My actual top pick from the collection is a gorgeous bronze shade called Himalia that’s not shown, but I had applied at the launch. It’s gorgeous.
Gorgeous new shadows – if you liked these, keep an eye out for some more NARS posts coming your way very soon!
